记不清多少次从Hartford经过，次次都会不经意的看她两眼，就如悄悄地瞄一瞄大街上
，那些从身边匆匆而过的女孩，似无心又有意的期盼，盼望能捕捉到一丝惊诧的美丽。
也许是因为时间仓促，亦或是印象中残存的偏见，总是觉得Hartford离美丽是那么遥远
，远的不着边际。
记忆中，第一次知道有Hartford，是因为读Mary Jane Auch的［Journey to nowhere］
。故事说的是，主人公一家离开生活相对安逸的Hartford地区，去到条件艰苦的西部新
开发地区的生活。我在为书中美国先贤们的开拓精神所打动，也为主人公一家的悲惨境
遇而惋惜的同时，其实并没对Hartford留下过多深刻的印象。
反而，大学roommate的一个Hartford朋友，他的对Red Sox和Yankees的那种或左或右的
态度让我印象深刻。当大家聚一起看比赛，这个‘Hartford’总是享受着胜利者的欢欣
，永远也不会有失败者的那种懊恼与悲伤。因为在Yankees赢球时，他是Yankees的拥卒

记不清多少次从Hartford经过，次次都会不经意的看她两眼，就如悄悄地瞄一瞄大街上
，那些从身边匆匆而过的女孩，似无心又有意的期盼，盼望能捕捉到一丝惊诧的美丽。
也许是因为时间仓促，亦或是印象中残存的偏见，总是觉得Hartford离美丽是那么遥远
，远的不着边际。
记忆中，第一次知道有Hartford，是因为读Mary Jane Auch的［Journey to nowhere］
。故事说的是，主人公一家离开生活相对安逸的Hartford地区，去到条件艰苦的西部新
开发地区的生活。我在为书中美国先贤们的开拓精神所打动，也为主人公一家的悲惨境
遇而惋惜的同时，其实并没对Hartford留下过多深刻的印象。

12号区的容闳(Yung Wing)墓，帖子比较分散，版上又时不时有人询问，我就都统一整
理在这个帖子里，并加一点关于容闳及其发起的中国幼童留美运动的介绍。麻烦哪位版
副mark一下，收在精华区明显易找的地方，以后查询方便。也欢迎大家多贴一些和中国
相关的康州人物或历史文化，增加对地方风土的了解和与家乡的联系。
【容闳小传】
容闳（1828年11月17日－1912年4月21日）字达萌，号纯甫，汉族，广东香山县南屏村
（今珠海市南屏镇）人，中国近代史上首位留学美国的学生，中国留学生事业的先驱，
被誉为“中国留学生之父”。
1835年，七岁的容闳跟随父亲前往澳门，入读马礼逊纪念学校（Morrison School）。
1842年由于香港割让英国，马礼逊纪念学校迁往香港，容闳亦随之迁往香港继续学业。
1847年，校长勃朗牧师返回美国，离开时带同容闳、黄宽及黄胜三人前往美国留学。其
后只有容闳一人留在美国升学，黄胜因病返港，而黄宽则于1849年转读苏格兰爱丁堡大
学。
