研究益生菌益生机理，平时的主要技术就是构造突变体，然后拿它做各种生物assay，
显微镜，荧光标记cofocal...HPLC, LC-MS,鱼类实验（我们实验室是研究鱼的益生菌的
）...
最近开始关注毕业找工作的事情，发现从monster上看到的绝大多数都是有关clinical
laboratory 或者food science（这俩一般招的是master,干manager的），再次就是生
物制药公司招scientist的或者manager(PhD or master)。
我们微生物系有两部分，一是以我老板为例，搞research science的；另外一个就是搞
clinical的，但是只有bs和ms，没有PhD.所以，我想我要不要利用这个条件（我们系开
设clinical的专业）再辅修一个ms in clinical呢？但是一想，老板肯定不愿意，我多
选一门课，他都说：没用，你好好做实验就行了。或者，我可以背着他自己偷着考个

the nutrition graduate programs I did not see such a program.Some medical
centers associated to universities may have clinical nutrition divisions but
they do not offer graduate program in clinical nutrition or even nutrition.
Some graduate programs in nutrition have faculty doing the clinical
nutrition things but I do not think there is a clinical internship for them.

生物博士，本科临床，不想再作纯粹的基础研究了，想转向clinical research方向，
觉得工作机会比较多，请问怎样才能进入这个行业呢？听说如果只读一个clinical
research associate 证书，只要3-6个月时间，但如果没有工作经验，也很难找到工作
。从网上job requirement 看，几乎都需要1-2年的clinical trial monitor经验，请
问怎样获得这些经验呢，如果去临床实验室作个博士后，或technician，这经验有用吗
？还有，如果同时学一些统计类的课程，象SAS之类，对转入clinical trial research
是否容易些，通常哪些统计软件在临床研究中用的比较多呢

另外，clinical psy.不见得没有医学院辛苦，有些人甚至声称因医学院过于昂贵和
训练时间过长，而且太注重药物而忽略了心理学的理论，所以更愿意读Ph.d in cl
inical psychology. 当然这个是一家之言了，因为Ph.d in clinical psychology
的training也很长，一些PHD就要7年以上，也要做intern，还要有research。
Ph.d in clinical psychology 的program一般也竞争激烈，可能仅次于医学院．但
我也认识一个clinical psy.的学生，她已经进了医学院，原来想读neurology，读
了一个月不想读了，退学再重新申请了
clniical psychologist 的收入一般要比psychiatrist少很多，但是也肯定是有其
他方面的满足感了。
还有就是，不是任何事情的出发点都是为了收入了。

但现在job interview必须要准备一点Clinical trial的东西。不然，什么job都找不到。
先来说说我的印象，希望帮我纠正。我印象中clinical trial不就是一个randomized
experimental study吗? 被试随机分配到E和C组，然后比较一下effect of treatment.
一个简单的ANOVA不就能够对付了吗？不知还有什么别的花样。至于power analysis和
sample size在这种design下，用G*Power或nquery自动就给你算出来。有什么麻烦的呢
？
最近我们所做了一个phase 4的longitudinal clinical trial study. E和C组分别是
两种治疗方法，然后治疗开始后的1，3，6，12个月测量outcome variables. 治疗本身

目还不
一样。我的day 3 lab里面包括FSH， E2， TSH， Prolactin， Lupus anticoagulant
eval， Factor 5， Antiphospholipid profile， ANA。
OB clinic的护士告诉我会bill these lab as “Miscarriage Code”。说也有可能保
险公司会
不包其中的，然后会要我自己出。
Infertility Clinic的还不知道是怎么 bill的。
而我的保险是一般的diagnostic lab是100%全包，infertility related是1万块
lifetime。
我就是担心infertility clinic把我的lab bill成 infertility-related， 那就要被
划到那
一万块钱的coverage去了。我还打算留着这一万块以防万一。。。

本人phd 在读，大概2年以后毕业
考虑将来去clinical lab （clinical microbiology）
目标：director
专业：微生物
因为孩子还小，加上科研投入的精力大收入不高，不愿意继续全职做科研。当初上学念
书也是因为要等绿卡还有clinical lab director需要博士学历。看了一些医院和NIH的
training program，不知道能不能跳到clinical biochemistry，这个方向招phd做
director多些。本人更喜欢微生物，生化也挺喜欢的。有没有什么公司也有这种
program，还是只能去医院或者NIH。前辈们能不能说说通往罗马之路
另外，我想打听一下参加完training拿到certificate之后的工作机会，还有director
的待遇情况，工作时间（很忙还是朝九晚五）。如果是specialist的话，待遇情况大概
如何，还有一般什么背景的做specialist，工作机会。
如果这条路不是一个很好的选择，我会着手去industry的准备 |

more info about Med tech. Currently, California has the highest salary pay
in the US, but it definitely requires license to practice in California.
From the top of my head, I know California, new York,
florida and illinoise require license to practice. Current starting salary
for med tech new graduates in new yorkis between 45000 to 50000 a year. 4

bachelor degree, especially for Medical Technology technician versu Medical
Technologist. The difference is that a technician gets associate degree,
they do less complicated clinical test and earn less salary. Technologist
has a bachelor degree and does more complicated clinical test and has more
knowledge. If you are planning to study Medical Technology, i would advise
you to go for the 3 years study + 1 year training.

来美工作4年多了
有卡，自己和朋友开了个生物技术的小公司，但是总感觉不稳定
最近一直对clinical microbiology非常感兴趣，
请问版上朋友或者你们的朋友有没有clinical microbiology方向的？
我的本科不是医学专业的，从applied microbiology转到clinical microbiology不知
道有多大的难度？
我在生物版上问过这个问题，可是基本没有人回答
是国内过来的学生读这个专业的人很少吗？还是program比较难进？还是这个方向没啥
奖学金啊？
看到很多学校都有clinical microbiology的master学位，是要修一个MS还是修个PhD?

发帖数: 431 | 50 本人国内Ph.D, 在美国博后已经快七年，估计今后混faculty的可能性很难，最乐观的
也不过是今后一小学校的AP，整天为funding挣扎。现在很想走Clinical Geneticist的
路，就是ABMG的那个方向：Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics
和 Clinical Molecular genetics。不知道有没有过来的大牛给指点一下。
看ABMG的政策介绍：国内PH.D还要凭TOEFL成绩先做一个资格审定，批准了后才能申请
后续的fellowship，不知道这一部难度多大？
这个方向的salary和今后找工作的前景如何？应该比博后千老钱多些吧？ |
