早上出门，再次发现自己的车被严严实实的覆在寸许厚的白雪下，庆幸
自己昨晚选择了住motel而不是勉强睡在摇曳的帐篷中，但马上就意识到
今天的路恐怕又不好走了。本来打算沿I10继续东行一段然后转118南下
去Mcdonald Obervatory看看，但路况不好的话为了不耽搁这天下午的
行程，干脆放弃，从Van Horn直接南下90. 开始几十迈的确难走，路上
的雪根本还没来得及清理，而且对向行车，中间没有隔离带，万一哪一
方会车时打一打滑就容易出事故。不过一个小时后过了小镇Valentine,
路上雪水便已融化，终於又可以撒开欢的跑了。於是心念一动，转505
接166，过Fort Davis再南下17. Fort Davis是Mcdonald Obervatory
南面的一个小镇，Rt 166也是和Rt 118 同被AAA划为风景线路的，这样
走虽然绕些路，也算对没能经停Rt 118的一点补偿。Rt 17过Marfa后变
Rt 67, 路况很好，限速不低(65 or 70?) --- 德州大概最舒 |

这一天是12.24， 当时确定行程时就是因为考虑到X'mas前后其它
很多地方都不开。Big Bend NP却反起道而行，X'mas是它冬季最热
闹的时候，公园里的各项服务设施如加油站和餐馆在X'mas Eve和
X'mas也照开不误。此时已是下午两点半左右，Santa Elena Canyon
和通往峡谷的Ross maxwell scenic drive是今天剩下的全部内容。
Ross Maxwell Dr一路风景的确不错，而且有很多trail的起点，可以
挑几个短的随便走走，象Bottom of Burro Mesa Pouroff, 不过往返1迈，
走下去后山崖近在咫尺，可以真正感觉群山环抱，让人想起zion NP;
Tuff Canyon也不错，而且往返不过0.75迈。

凌晨迷迷糊糊地醒来，多少还是有些冷，於是不大睡得着了，看了看
手表，怎么才2点! 然后发现原来是表停了，好在我还带了个备用的
石英闹钟，看时已经早上7点。大概再过半个小时就该日出了，可是
周围怎么还这么静呢？帐篷里探头出去，居然还是满天的星星! 缩在
睡袋里困惑了半小时之久，终於认定这是黎明前的黑暗，反正也睡不
着了，於是准备出发。今天的重点是走走Lost Mine Trail和Windows
Trail. 洗漱完毕后钻进车，发动起来，瞥了一眼车上的时钟，咦?
怎么是6点?? 然后才反应过来那个石英闹钟还是东部时间，出门时我
就没调过。实在懒得再回帐篷了，於是放倒座椅，放起一盘神秘园
的CD, 头一次在这样黎明的寂静中听Secret Garden, 仿佛天籁。
终於天光初现，於是出发。先走Lost Mine Trail, 往返大约4.8迈。
资料上说Big bend NP里有如山狮一类的野生动物，习惯于在黎明和
拂晓时活动，所以盘算着如果运气好，还能和山狮遭遇一下 ---
当然前提是山狮通常不会主 |

慢吞吞走完Lost Mine Trail去吃午饭，Visitor Center居然有buffee,
主要是相中了沙拉可以随便吃 --- 出外旅行蔬菜水果是一定要多吃的。
一问价钱，答曰"Six Ninty-Five", 便宜呀，吃！结果一顿饭就吃了我
一个多小时，可是结账时才发现不对，原来是"Sixteen Ninty-five" :(
真后悔为什么没有再多吃几盘沙拉。回去收拾好帐篷已经是快两点了，
开始走Windows Trail. 这条路如果从Visitor Center出发往返5.2迈，
爬800多英尺(回来路上)；不过如果不是专门爱爬山的话，可以从宿营
地出发，往返大约4.5迈，只要爬100多英尺。我当然走的是偷懒的这条路
了。
其实感觉这条trail要比lost mine 好很多，不仅路好走，不用怎么
爬山，难得的是一路景致也很好。Trail的尽头两边的山体忽然收拢，形
成只有两三米宽的峡谷；其实一路走来两边山崖耸立，直觉当然告诉我们
自己是在山谷中行走，然而等你来到这收拢的峡谷并由谷口 |

至此Big Bend里三条主要分支已经走了两条，还有一条是通往Rio Grande
Village的，不过好像普遍认为那里没什么太好的景致，所以我只给那里留了
两个小时，聊作走马观花。这一侧二十多迈的山路跑下来除了远远就能看到
的Rio Grande的高崖层次分明外，好像也的确没太多东西。
我一路杀到道路尽头的boquillas Canyon Overlook, 到了overlook才发现那
立了个牌子，说在本overlook你什么也看不见，要看的话再往前走1迈多路...
差点没把我气死. 眺望一番，确认走一迈多路也不会看到什么了不得的东西，
掉过头来就往Hot Springs跑. 那个地方对老美说起来多少也算历史遗址，
除了更早时有土著居民定居外，在20世纪初开发西部时就有人跑到那里去开
温泉浴池。天然温泉以前还从来没见识过，这次德州行特意带了条游泳短裤，
看有没有机会去泡泡 :) 从路边按标志牌上了一条烂得不行的土路开上两迈，
是一个小停车场，下去走上五六分钟，就看见温泉了，泉边还真有人，基本 |

终于又到温哥华最好的出行时间了，五月的Victoria长假不好好的利
用实在是对不起自己。虽然每天都辛苦的要命，数次打退堂鼓，但还
是禁不住那美丽海风的召唤，义无反顾的出发了；结果是那么的美
好，这三天的假期无疑成为我旅行之中最精彩的体验之一。其实在
West coast住过一段时间，走过一些地方的人，都会多多少少有这样
的感觉，很多的地方其实大同小异不会带来太多的兴奋；但是Long
Beach是那么的独特，那么的与众不同，难怪很多人都会流连忘返。
建议去Long Beach应该至少有三天假期，5月中到9月底最适合，天气
状况要比较好，晴天最佳；当然冬天去也有其道理，因为冬天是很好
的观潮季节，不过寒冷的程度一定是可想而知了。三，四月的优势在
于可以有非常大机会的看到多种鲸鱼，但Camping稍早，选择Cabin会
比较 |

00 buckshots and slugs may over penetrate and go thru the walls and hit
innocent bystanders, at least thats what I read. I have #4 buckshots x 3
rounds and followed by 00 buckshot x 1 rd and slug x 1rd. I figure if I can'
t neutralize the threat with the first three shots, I can care less about
over penetration. |

。大德州是有这样的判例的。
美国联邦法和绝大多数州法是Common Law。Common law有个fleeing felon rule是允许
对逃跑中的罪犯使用武力甚至致命武器的。美国这边对使用致命武器的条件有一些限制
，不如不能对非暴力犯罪的罪犯使用致命武器等等。但我看这些限制基本不适用那个假
新闻里的情形。所以哪怕假新闻里的故事是真的，男主被起诉的可能性也很小。自然，
如果你在深蓝州还是小心点用枪。

在去年的ESPN的一个美国体育史上”Greatest Rivalries”的评选中,
俄亥俄州立大学(OSU)与密西根大学(UMICHIGAN)的橄榄球的一百多年的对抗荣登榜首, 成
为美国体育史上 “The Greatest Rivalry”.
排在它后面的有红皮人(REDSKINS)和牛仔(COWBOYS)的职业橄榄球对抗, 红袜(RED SOX)和
洋基(YANKEES)的棒球对抗等非常有名的死对头. 为什么这样一对大学的对手在美国体育
史上有这样大的影响?
主要原因在于这俩个橄榄球队都是传统强队, 有狂 |

标 题: 郁闷得睡不着觉，灌水一片

这阵挺忙，本来没想上来的，可是刚刚看完OSU和UT的比赛，领先了那么长时间到了最后
翻了船，郁闷得不行，上来发发牢骚。算不上真正的football fan, 技术方面讨论还是藏
拙吧，约略说说心情而已。
两校的比赛说起来也算百年盛会了：都是有football悠久历史传统的学校，一个1890年第
一场比赛，一个1893年，居然一百多年都互相没碰上过。这次难得碰一次，而且双方全国
排名都那么高，说起来也算万众瞩目了。赛前普遍认为实力上UT占优，不过OSU有主场优
势，所以多数预测比赛结果比较接近，胜算各五五开。（结果表明实际情况也的确如此。
）开场的两个回合看得我是目瞪口呆：OSU都是three and out, 毫无建树，倒是UT弹无虚
发，第一次得球拿了个field goal, 第二次更是干脆利落的touchdown, 感觉在Vince
Young的一路裸奔面前OS |
