发帖数: 26 | 2 最近拿到了ECE Top20 Program的PhD Offer，方向为Bioinformatics，基本上是
bioimaging的方向，做Computer Vision和Pattern Recognition的，导师不是大牛，成
长中，我看该组的毕业生基本上都在本组做博后。
本人国内硕士毕业，在国内做的个人觉得是小科研，也是PR相关的算法，编程能力不是
很强，英语不错，因为年纪不小了，以后打算Faculty了，但是不知道Faculty的生活适
不适合自己，因为个人觉得国内国外做Faculty的差距还是很大的，国内有些Faculty很
轻松。自己性格属于动静结合那种，比较喜欢与人打交道，闲了就爱遐想。
在等Offer的时候在国内找到了一个工作，世界500强的电信外企，做技术支持，年薪
18W左右。由于现在这段时间没什么事情，同学又都工作了，心里有些烦，5年的博士之
后还要面对找工作，那时候已经30多了，觉得有些没信心，尤其是在industry。放弃和
PhD这个Offer意味着再没有机会读书了，又有些舍不得。
请教各位Bioinformatics找方向工作怎么样呢？Faculty的职 |

5，6 左右。看来我是没有希望了。薄厚是坚决不想做了，大不了用硕士来找
programming的工作。这样看起来比Bioinformatics的博士都有戏。好歹硕士Software
Engineer或者web programmer也有6，7万的工资吧！真的不想熬个3年5年做薄厚啊！ |

主要困惑是，将来朝着哪个方向发展。 1）做bioinformatics，短期内似乎比较容易找
工，但是有远虑，担心长远发展不好 2）是不是应该向data scientist 发展，
machine learning我还可以，但是computer方面还需补一补，应该考虑吗？ 3）做常规
analyst，比如risk analyst，predictive modeling？然后慢慢向business 靠近？
实在是周围没有多少人可以参考，请高人赐教，不甚感激。 。。。 |

学校今年挖来了两位bioinformatics的pioneer, leader级牛人，以前也出过一些传奇人物，要不要去搞bioinformatics呢?

的学问。由于生物学观察数据的大量性、随机性、变异性和复杂性，有关生物信息的抽
象概括的方法学是且只能是统计学的方法，所以，我的观点是两者间的关系（在方法论
上）是全集和子集的关系。如果你认为我在胡扯，就要为此给出你的论证，至少要举出
bioinformatics中的一个要素不属于生物统计（=生物学+统计学）的范畴以支持你的观

where. Recently one of the AP in our department is trying to apply a fund
for his research in some gene research area ( I don't know clearly). The
research is joint by the Anderson(?) cancer center in TX (I heard).
My current adviser will be on leave next year, and currently he has no idea

小弟我今年8月份博士计算机科学（计算生物学和生物信息方向）毕业，9月份可以上班
（OPT）。
现在最希望是找一些生物技术或者制药公司。我博士期间主要的研究方向是做算法设计
和生物信息软件开发。我自以为编程还是不错的，C, C++, Java, Perl, Python,
Matlab, R 都没有问题。另外在一个医学研究所做了4年的癌症项目，都是跟测序和分
析相关的。博士期间发表7篇文章，另3篇在投。
小弟在此求大家的内推，天南地北大小公司都行，普通工作没有intern也行。如果大家

大概介绍一下我的背景：
研究方向是bioinformatics, algorithm, machine learning, next-generation
sequencing, metagenomics, structural biology. 主要是自己研发算法和软件（大概
80%），也有和生物学家合作（大概20%，具体的项目主要是测序分析，比如cancer
genomics， epigenetics， human microbiome等）。
PHD是computer science，学校专业排名大概在100左右。现在在研究所做了2，3年的
postdoc，具体也是做跟NGS相关的算法和软件研发。
文章一作的大概8篇，IF 8-10分的3篇, 3-5分的3篇，3以下的两篇。挂名的大概4-5篇
吧，IF都是5左右的。
现在没有funding。。。
请问各位师兄师姐知不知道什么合适的职位？如果有在SC的就更好啦 ：）多谢多谢！ |
