You should also change the water pump at the same time.
What is your quote?
Normal vw timing belt change is around 500 to 600. ( I have seen as cheap as
300 to 400, but can go as high as 800 to 900), If they charge over 1,000,
they usually add in some other parts and service.
It is best to change it according to the schedule, fail to do so can cause
very expensive valve job (they are bent when the belt break)
If you want to avoid this, you should only buy cars using timing chain from
now on.

是专修VW的，老美开的，价格偏贵（主要是人工），人工85刀每小时，换了timing
belt, water pump, serpentine belt tensioner等，花了8小时人工加配件，总共
1300多。一般timing belt 和water pump必换，其他的他也会建议你换，你可换可不换
，但既然里面已经拆开了那就换换无妨，因为人工费总是85×8.
相比起老墨开的店这家是偏贵，但因为是专修VW的，所以质量是有保障的，而且配件基
本都是原装的。

is not that much.
I did a timing belt job on a vw job before, it only took me half a day (and
I have ddone less than 10 timing belt jobs in my whole life). I would say
someone doing this for a living can do much faster, but they all charge by
the book.
Honestly timing belt change on most car (not just vw) is a expensive job.
The good news is that vw come up a newer timing belt kits for my old car
that last twice as long as the one that came with the car. So check to make
sure you get the newest updated kits for your car (if there is one).

when I was four, I started working on cars since I was eight.
Now my LD love to collect cars and have a fully equiped garage, I still
enjoy working on cars once a while.

Our garage is just a simple setup, 2 post car lift, full set of snap-on hand
tools, power tools and some tool storage.
LD is currently working on a DB5 when he got some free time, me and kids are
helping sometime.

Not sure, but I think you should be able to find one online that can fit in
your garage. (you might look into a 4 post lift)
I don't what that is, but our's is high enough.
还有木地板，
I have never seen 木地板 in 普通车库, we just have plain concrete (6,000 psi)
都不行的吧？

，幸好现在不再有用皮带的车子了。自己干过最有成就感的事儿就是换喷油嘴了，
stealer换6个要2000刀, 自己动手不到200刀搞定。现在有一部车要换点火线圈。福特
的脑残设计，要把intake plenum摘掉， 30分钟的活，变成6个小时。再等零件了，下
周末动手ing。 |
