PS: After writing 4 first authored papers with the professor in less
than one year, I'm writing 2 other first authored papers with him. He
does have good reasons to have great confidence in USTC grads. hehe.
My next plan is to fight&win a grant proposal with him, and recruit
students from USTC with that grant. It takes a lot of work and time.

But for good sake of USTC, I highly suggest that you spend more time on other
things then wasting time here. Getting into Top10 school for a USTC 11 dept
student is not easy.
I am really ashamed of myself, during the past 5 years, I only referred 4
ustcer to my company.:((

PS: I'm far from being great. You can claim to be "great" only after you
become a faculty member in a top 25 CS department.

if you want to be in a decent institution, a non-decent name listed in
your publication record definitely hurts your chance. So, publish on
decent conferences/journal, or don't publish at all.

Working for 24 hours/day will give you NOTHING BUT FATIGUE.
Especially for research, you need ideas and inspiration much more than
sitting there. Let's say you are working on a challenging problem. It
requires an inspiration level of 100 to come up with the right idea to
solve it. You know what? You definitely need enough thinking about it,
but fatigue will only decrease your level of inspiration, and hurts you
chance of reach the required level t

and productivity by watering here.

That's exactly the difference between "脑力劳动" and "体力劳动".
Anyway, the only way to be successful is to keep yourself eager to work and
happy working, not to force yourself to work for a longer time.
I have a lot of lot of examples to prove that.
I got >650 on TOEFL within 3 weeks, and would not get that score if I worked
too much and got bored at TOEFL.
I got >2300 on GRE within a couple of months, and would not get that

I am not trying to persuade you on spending more time on work, I just try to
persuade you to spend less time here
my point is-- watering here = waste time, using those time to take a good
nap or have a good gym exercise or have a good fuck or have more dinners with
those niu professors
will be more beneficial for you and USTC
