发帖数: 50 | 8 In LA county, they have the racial information for about only 45% of the
confirmed cases, but they do know the racial info for 92% of the deaths.
Using data as of yesterday, once infected, Asians have a death rate of 2.3%,
Black 1.7%, Hispanic 1.1% and White 1.6%. So Asian Americans have the
highest death rate once confirmed infected. My calculation has limit since
I have to assume the racial makeup for the other 55% of cases with unknown
races to be the same as those with known races. |

发帖数: 50 | 9 Again, I do believe a higher death rate for Asian is reasonable since we
Asian are more prudent and do not go out party or rally as much to avoid
infection. So fewer, compared to other races, younger Asians are infected,
and therefore more Asian infections are proportionally older. And we all
know the death rate for older people is a lot higher. So there is a
reasonable explanation for Asian's higher death rate, but can it be all
explained? I don't know. And that is just my reasoning; if there are more
detailed data, such as ages of the death, coming out that proves I am wrong,
I am not surprised. |
