TOLEDO —During a Donald Trump event this morning designed to reach out to
African American voters, the black man who introduced him used the “N”
word.
Trump did not visibly react when Don King, in a long and rambling talk, used
the word.
Here is King in full context:
“America needs Donald Trump. Especially black people. You understand my
black brothers. They told us, if you try and emulate and imitate the white
man, then you can be successful. So we tried that…
“I told Michael Jackson, if you’re poor, you’re a poor Negro. I would use
the N word. But if you’re rich, you are a rich Negro. If you are
intelligent, intellectual, they will call you an intellectual Negro. If you
’re dancing and sliding and gliding n——r - I mean , Negro — you’re a
dancing and sliding and gliding Negro.
“So dare not alienate because you cannot assimilate. So you know, you’re
going to be a Negro until you die.”
Once he took the mic, Trump said he admired King.
“He took advantage of lots of situations…and I have great respect for that
,” the GOP presidential nominee said.
“When you look at someone like Don King who’s so successful. He broke that
system. HE wouldn’t take no. He’s so inspirational to so many people,
