president, Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Monday ruled out the possibility of
running as an independent.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked the former Republican presidential candidate
who suspended his campaign nearly two weeks ago if 2012 GOP nominee Mitt
Romney had contacted him regarding an independent bid.
“I don’t want to get into who — I’ve had a phone call with somebody that
wanted me to run, consider running as [a] third-party candidate,” Kasich
said, according to a preview of the interview that will air in full Monday
evening.
“No, I’m not gonna do that,” he added, when asked if he was considering
it and why. “Well, I think that — I gave it my best where I am, and I just
think running third-party, it doesn’t feel right. I think it’s not
constructive.”
