unnecessary tensions within nations. Most men have an allegiance to some
group beyond their family-- a tribe, region, nation, ethnic, race,
linguistic, or religious group.
The multicultural state removes national identity as a basis of commonality
because there is no cohesive view of what that means. If any language,
religion, or law are accepted, what defines the nation?
Canada had trouble enough with two competing nations, as does Belgium, and
of course the Balkans is the epitome of political fracturing. Since people
naturally come together on the basis of similarities, it is natural that a
multicultural state will eventually balkanize and reform on some other basis
, usually ethnic or religious.
Men like to be with their own kind. Yes, as tourists we wish to experience
other cultures, but we want the familiar at home. This explains the allure
of old slippers. I don't seek out noisy, hard drinking, bar room brawlers
for friends. I don't seek to find friends among those who speak no English.
Surely, it is not racist to want to be with people who are like you, in
language, heritage, and traditions.
The USSR was truly multicultural but it required massive repression of the
composite cultures in order to function, even poorly. The moment the
oppression weakened, the USSR dissolved before our very eyes.
The USSR fractured along ethnic lines. Yugoslavia, a veritable dog's
breakfast of cultures, broke into ethnic, linguistic, and religious parts.
Belgium looks ready to split along linguistic lines. That the language
divide also defines the economic divide only adds political tension to the
situation.
Beyond the strictly human norms of interaction, is the economic reality of
multiculturalism. It doesn't work. Although proponents keep trying to make
the argument that North America was built by immigrants, they neglect to say
that the immigrants assimilated quickly or returned home. They neglect to
say that welfare was non-existent when the USA and Canada were being built.
No country today is prospering from massive immigration. Add the inane multi
-culti idea and disaster is sure to follow.
Opposites attract only in physics and in Hollywood.
Stand up! Multiculturalism is unnatural and unworkable. |
