I was selected (hint: VIP, long term loyal customers, and suckers). A brand
new blender? Weeee... Sweet. LP had no reason to stop me now but letting me
go. I am piking up her Kitchen ware, for Gods sake.
Of course, there might be poker. Nowadays I played a lot NL 1/2, very few 2/
5 because I am afraid of swing, and no time to get back because I don't play
long session.
Anyway, sitting down at a typical 1/2 table, a lot of limp but no calling
station. My card dead for a while. After a few stealing without any
resistance, my Tom Dwan fantasy became to occupy my brain, whenever it
happened, I got screwed, this time it is no exception.
MP a tight player with $400+ stack raised $10, fold to me with $420 stack at
cut off, I looked down and saw 8h5h. Suited connectors? Let me 3-bet with
this baby! I see Tom did it many time on TV! And for live 1-2, usually ppl 3
-bet with a very tight range. Very good chance ppl will respect the 3-bet
and let me pick up the pot.
I raised to $36, then something unexpected happened. SB, a semi-loose short
stack cold called, MP tanked for 30 secs and then called as well. I already
swelling and think they all got good pair and plan to shut down if I didn't
connect the flop at all.
Flop 2s 3h 4h. Sh*t, couldn't be any better other than flopping straight.
SB instantly All-in for rest of 85ish. MP hesitant but just called also. My
assessment doesn't change that they still got two good pairs. Folding was
not an options, my choice is to go all-in or just flat call. After think for
a while, I decided based on stack size, just call in position was a better
play for me. So I just called as well.
Turn Ac. MP checked. I pushed for $150. SB shaking his head and reach his
pocket ready for rebuy. MP tanked for another 3 mins and folded. Showed his
KK.
River a xh. I improved my hand to flush. I thought the pot was in my pocket.
However, SB jumped up & down, then he showed his JhTh. WTF?
SB asked me to show my hand. I could refuse it at the time but decide to
show. The table certainly got active and say they couldn't put us on these
two hands.
I asked SB how could you cold call 3 bet OOP with this hand, he insisted he
kind knew I was making a play. Another WTF. I didn't even bother to ask MP
how could he just flat call with his KK OOP...
After this freakish hand, the table suddenly came alive. We had 3 all-in in
next 20 mins, including AK vs TT with K T 9 board and AK hit runner runner
full house; AK high shipped all-in with 6 6 5 board got called by my 88s,
and sucked out on river; AK and KQ preflop 100 bb, and KQ hit Q on the flop
... It was fun though.
In the end, I came out ok. could have won more if I was a little more lucky.
But the moral of the story is: I can't be Tom Dwan. | W********m 发帖数: 7793 | 2 In all seriousness, Dwan would have reshoved on the flop, got tanked called
by MP and won the side pot......
More importantly, how is the blender???

| T*********k 发帖数: 1621 | 4 I was debating about shoving flop or just calling in position. After all, I
still prefer flat call because a couple reasons:
1. I only shove on a draw if I think I was getting decent folding equity. In
this case, I think the chance of MP folding was slim after he already put $
120 with only 270+ to call my all-in bet. The pot is big enough. In all
cases, looks like I have to hit my draw to win.
2. Without folding equity, I always prefer a made hand rather than a draw. I
see many times ppl pushes their strong draws, and blank turn and river and
lost whole stack.
3. If I pushed all-in and got called (very likely scenario), I got to see
two cards to hit my draw. However, if I just called, looks like MP suspected
I had a big hand because 1) I was the preflop aggressor and 2) I also
called SB All-in bet, good chance he will check turn even a blank card hit.
In these case, I can also check and see the river card for free, with far
more less money invested. Big difference if I played this hand OOP.
4. Even I blank both turn and river, I only lost $120 vs $420 in one hand,
big difference in NL 1/2, $120 was very manageable and I could still turn a
decent profit after the session, as I did. Can't say it about $420 in a 5-6
hours session. Very hard to fill that hole and then make meaningful profit
unless my luck turns around quickly. | T*********k 发帖数: 1621 | 5 Thanks for pointing out. Typo. Fixed in the original post.

How somebody can get so lucky? Having a poker room near your home is like
having a secondary job only your office is next door. I think most ppl here
can beat NL 1/2 game. The best of all, the second income is totally tax free
! (well, unless you want to pay tax).
Rely on politicians is useless. Even though NY passed gambling law, they
outlawed Casino near the city for at least 5 years, and only allow Casino to
open in up and west of the state, which is 2+hours away from the city. What
good is that for? Totally garbage.
The US gov as a whole is pure garbage. Brick and mortar Casinos opening up
around the country like candy stores, yet, online gambling still outlawed
based on some laws passed by red necks arguing moral reasons. Just legalized
everything and tax it, damn it.
oh yeah! i wouldn't mind to hit and run a couple hundred in

Just like stock trading, if it is your secondary income, it is a lot less
stressful. However, if it is your only income, then it is totally different.
I can't never playing poker for living. To make a good living, 1/2 or 2/5
games is not gonna cut it. You have to beat higher stake. However, those
stake players are better, pool is small and fish is few. I remember read an
interview from Ben Lamb, he said there are only 1 or 2 good high stakes game
every month, sometimes even two months, when it happens, it fills very
quickly and you can't get in.
I can imagine a lot of those Pros will have side jobs, or other investing .
Like investing housing and collect rent as steady income. After all, Las
Vegas housing market is rebounding very fast.
