showed my hand. There was another hand that I raised with a pair and a gut
shot straight draw on the flop of 3 4 7. The other guy flopped the straight.
I got lucky on the turn and we went all in. We ended up chopping the pot,
but everyone knew that I was capable of bluffing with anything. No one on
the table believed me at that time.I was very aware of that. So I decided to
stop bluffing and just wait for a big hand to get paid off.
Hero (650$): Perceived image by the table: LAG.
Villain (370$): Young white guy with earphones on, sunglasses and a baseball hat. Bought
in for 300. Been on the table for 30 minutes. Saw both of my bluffs. LAG
but competent player. He opened several times with position and took down
pots with c-bet on the flop. I knew he had been waiting for a chance to
catch me bluffing.
Hero Limps 4s5s UTG for 3$, folds to the villain who is at SB. He checks,
and BB loose passive guy checks. Three to the flop. Flop 6 7 2 RB. Villain
leads out for 13$. BB calls, and I call. Turn is an 8. No flush draw on the
board. Villain bets out 30$, and BB calls. I am now taking my time to decide
my raising size. I know I have the best hand right now. I also know that
villain thinks that I like to bluff and squeeze. Normally, I would raise to
85$, but now I have to make some adjustment according to my current
perceived image by villain. I have to make my raise like a squeeze, but not
to much to scare him away. So I decided to make it 130$ to go. Before I make
my raise, I take a glance at BB very quickly to make sure he is not slow
playing hands like 10 9. From the look on his face, I know he is drawing. So
I raised to 130$. Villain doesn't take long to make his decision to go all
in for 330$. BB thinks for a while and folds. I snap call. He then asks me
nervously," you got straight?" I answered," yeah, you got two pair?" He nods
his head. "8 7?" "No, 8 6." My straight holds up. Villain then said," good
hand. I didn't think you have anything." I almost answered,"that's what I
wanted to make you think." But the good thing is that I didn't say anything.
Why would I reveal this important information to him? I'd rather let him
think that I am just a donkey who overbets her big hand.
I think I played this hand very well because I adjusted my playing style and
betting size according to my current image perceived by a specific opponent
. If I made a raise of 85$, it would be too obvious for villain to know that
I had a straight, and then he wouldn't have made a big mistake like that.
He is a player who is definitely capable of folding two pairs or other big
