Come on. It's SO(5) not SO(8).
Well, that's 4D Quantum Hall Effect. And, it's not a supergravity theory.

Total charge is not a order parameter, though. It's a conserved quantity.
If there is phase seperation, you can define a order parameter, CDW.
If you want to put them together in a symmetry, you need to define
the rotation from one to the other. And you should be able to give
some strong predictions.
If you unify AF and SC within SO(5), there is a strong prediction
that you can rotate from SC to AF paying tiny energy. And, the vortex core
will be AF. This was predicted in 97 by SO5. And it was

It was mentioned in his science paper. Detailed calcualtion was published in 97.
The first authoe is Aravos who is in UCSD.
His story on pseudo-gap is that it's a disordered state of the pseudo-spin.
This does not make much difference from the pre-formed pair schema.
They developed a so-called projected SO5 model(PSO5) in 1999 to consider
the effect of Mott gap.
My understand of SO5 theory is that it introduce the competing between
AF and SC. And, this is quite remarkeable and sharp observation
