The City has been working diligently and steadily with EBRPD to address
parking at Mission Peak. On Monday City Council discussed this matter and I
wanted to share the following update with you.
· Beginning September 29th new operating hours will be implementing. The
current hours are 5:30 AM-10 PM. The new hours will be 6:30 AM to DUSK!
The District will be installing additional gates and signage in preparation
for the new hours.
· A pilot hiker fee program will be implemented this upcoming Spring. The
fee will likely be charged on Saturdays and Sundays to begin with, allowing
for free access during the week. Since it is a pilot program the days can be
changed in accordance with the need. City Council will be strongly
encouraging the implementation of the pilot hiker fee sooner than Spring.
The Draft EIR for the parking lot(s) is almost complete. It is anticipated
that the Draft will be circulated in November and the final would be adopted
in early 2015. Stay tuned for release of the Draft EIR, so that you can
make comments.
Our neighbor, Tom SooHoo made some excellent suggestions regarding parking
in terms of street sweeping, curb painting and blockages of mailboxes that
impeded delivery of mail - I have instructed Staff to look into this as well
.
These new measures plus the parking citations and fines for hiking before
and after curfew should make an impact. | f****d
