Qualcomm Inc. said earnings fell 44% in the fourth fiscal quarter, as
struggles in its patent licensing business overshadowed positive signs in
sales of smartphone chips.
The company also projected lower profit than Wall Street expected in the
current quarter, partly due to the licensing issues. Its shares fell about 5
% in after-hours trading.
Qualcomm, the biggest maker of processors and modem chips used in handsets,
has grappled with issues in the past year that include pressure from an
activist investor, antitrust investigations and moves by customers Apple Inc
. and Samsung Electronics Co. to use more chips of their own design.
The San Diego-based company in July announced plans to cut expenses by $1.4
billion and begin a review of its strategic options, including the
possibility of separating its chip design and patent-licensing businesses.
Qualcomm has been under pressure from activist investor Jana Partners LLC to
consider a split and other options to boost its share price. The company
over the years had considered splitting into two but always wound up
rejecting the idea. Steve Mollenkopf, Qualcomm’s chief executive officer,
said Wednesday that the review is “on track” and is expected to be
completed by the end of 2015. | a*****8

腾讯科技讯 11月5日，据外媒报道，高通今天发布了该公司截至9月27日的2015财年第
四财季财报。报告显示，高通第四财季营收为55亿美元，比去年同期的67亿美元下滑18
%；净利润为11亿美元，比去年同期的19亿美元下滑44%。
高通第四财季营收为55亿美元，略高于FactSet分析师平均预计的52.1亿美元；不按照
美国通用会计准则计量的每股摊薄利润为0.91美元，高于FactSet分析师平均预计的0.
86美元。
高通自身预计该公司2016财年第一财季不按照美国通用会计准则计量的每股摊薄收益将
在0.80美元到0.90美元之间，不及分析师平均预计的1.08美元；高通预计2016财年营收
将介于52亿美元到60亿美元之间，而分析师的预期则为57.4亿美元。高通还预计2016财
年第一财季MSM芯片出货量为2.25亿到2.45亿，比去年同期下滑9%到17%。
