Spend three days there:
Day 1 (with only 8 hour sleep): about 6 mi
Visited the Museum; Walk from Yosemite Visitor Center to Lower Yosemite
footbridge, and back from the other side:
Approximately 1.6 mi.
Hike to Vernal Fall footbridge, and went up to mist trail (completed about 2
/3 or 4/5), lots of climbing:
Approximately 3 mi.
Walk to Mirror lake and beyond:
Approximately 2.5 mi
Day 2: 5.3 mi
Non-stop hiking from Mariposa Grove to Fallen Tunnel Tree in rain and SNOW,
detoured from the regular route a little bit:
Approximately 2.6(up) + 2.7(down) = 5.3 mi
Well, it's still about 2mi short. :)
While grandparents thought it's a lot for a 5 1/2 yrs old, I feel, hiking
especially climbing is relatively easier for kids then walking.
I am thinking, maybe next time he can go to upper Yosemite fall or Neveda
fall at least with us. |

we were really really slow, and I feel my son is quite ok with the climbing
and the distance. but I don't think he can manage all day hiking for now.
btw, he didn't complain at all. he has done 4 miles hiking before. but it is
the first time we finished without his whining.

it's called fallen tunnel tree. and I don't think you can drive up there now
