afternoon group run. There were
two barefoot runners in the group. After the start of the run, a girl went
out fast at about 7:00 pace or
probably faster, and I went with her. Then I was shocked to see that she was
running barefoot. Later she told
me that she grew up in a farm and has been running barefoot all her life.
Wow. That's like a young Zola Budd right in front of me.
After a couple miles she told me that she did a hard workout yesterday and
wanted to slow down a little. Later
we picked up the pace again and were heading back at under 7:00 pace. A guy
ran past us at maybe lower six
minutes pace. It was the final mile and I told the girl that I will finish
fast. She told me to catch the guy. So I
went after him, running hard. When I passed the guy, he responded by
accelerating, and so did I. I was running
all out. Every time I surge, he would respond. It surely felt like five
minute pace, because I cannot last a mile at
that pace. I was going as hard as I could, and eventually the guy said "I
don't know how far you are going but
I'm gonna slow down here!" I said "I'm finishing here. That was about as
hard as I could run!" Now that's real
running I'm talking about. Stay hungry my friends. |

today I was running in the pouring rain, and I was the only living
soul on my 10 miles trail run |

ll do some short races, in preparation for the relay next month.
