Clojure is supported by Hickey's company, Cognitect, where he's the CTO.
The company's main product is Datomic, a commercial database. They also sell
consulting services to companies who use Clojure, e.g. WalmartLabs, Boeing,
etc.

education in Computer Science was taking some class from a local college (

However, he has been a professional programmer for several decades, and
taught programming classes in universities such as NYU. He implemented
several versions of Lisp in various platforms before developing Clojure full
-time for a couple of years. After announcing Clojure, he asked for donation
to support himself.

Clojurescript compiles to Javascript source code.
Clojure and Clojurescript can live in the same source file with .cljc suffix
. This enables the server and the Web client to share the same code, useful
for things like input validation.

Much better than several years ago.
Since Clojure had a thin pack to matrix manipulation, we can do
lots of AI things even by using that single library.
