individual interest. General speaking, which one ranks better?
Some Universities have Pharm.D/Ph.D, the double D program like M.D/Ph.D.
Does this program train pharmacist and faculty together? So Can pharmacist
work as a faculty at the same time? |
l********8 发帖数: 491 | 2 most of the faculty in pharmacy school are pharmD's. They teach the core
course therapeutic and precept students. |

r********r 发帖数: 352 | 4 I while ago, I was interested in the pharmD/PhD program, and becoming a part
time faculty in pharmacy school. I talked to a professor in pharmacotherapy
division. She said most professors in their divisions are pharmDs only,
only very few of them are pharmD/phD or pharmD/MS. there were phD students
in their division who do not have a pharmD degree. Most of them will work in
industry. PharmD is definitely required if you want to be a professor in
pharmacotherapy, and some post graduate training |
s********s 发帖数: 291 | 5 I know many people who want to take the FPGEE have received a Ph.D degree
and are currently doing post doctor. If they got the license of pharmacist,
will it help them find a faculty position in Pharmacy school? Can they do
two jobs faculty/pharmacist at the same time? |
k******o 发帖数: 3328 | 6 很多faculty痘需要pharmD的,你有license,是rph,有PHD都不行的. |
l********8 发帖数: 491 | 7 if you want to teach pharmacy practice, a pharmD + residency (usually 2
years) help you to qualify. if you wanna to teach basic science, phd is fine
. you don't really need a pharmD/phD. I seen a prof with a pharmD/phD , she
teaches the dosage form class, which in my eyes, not the important class in
the curriculum. |
s********s 发帖数: 291 | 8 Pharmacist earns more than teaching faculty, right? In order to teach in
pharmacy school, It is not necessary to have a Pharm.D. Many Ph.D teach in
pharmacy school. I know some faculties work as a part time pharmacist, but I
am not sure if it is popular or not.
Many people got Ph.D in Biomedical Science and are planning Pharmacist
examination. It is very difficult and tough to become a Biology Faculty. It
might be a good choice to become a pharmacist. However, it is not easy to go
back to China |

one is better. It is a personal choice. It is very competitive for being a
clinic faculty. Pharm D and residence experience are necessary. I don't
think Ph.D. is main factor for a clinic faculty. Most of clinic faculty do
work at university hospital and it is part of their job. |
s********s 发帖数: 291 | 10 Do you think whether a registered Pharmacist (FPGEE) has a chance to become
a teaching faculty? It is better to do some teaching/research besides
practicing pharmacy. It is boring if you do practicing everyday. |

f*******e 发帖数: 689 | 11 你不喜欢PHARMACIST的工作,你就不要强迫自己做,何必要浪费时间和金钱呢,这是不
同的工作,PHARMACIST LICENSE对你当TEACHING FACULTY of
biological science没有太多的帮助,没有license你也能申请,而CLINIC FACULTY有
自己的标准和职业要求,PHD好像也没太大的帮助,PHARM D and RESIDENCY
s********s 发帖数: 291 | 12 I mean you can work as pharmacist for a part time and as a faculty in basic
science such as pharmacology, pharmaceutics or biology. I know some people
work like this way. If you search Ph.D and R.Ph in google. you will find a
lot of faculty, who has the title of both Ph.D and R.Ph. Before Pharm.D
becomes mandatory, many people only has B.S and R.Ph.
We can try to find a better life style from your work. If you work in both
ways, maybe you can have more funs and make more money. Is that true? |
l********8 发帖数: 491 | 13 I don't know if you still think that way when you finish your pharmd. Pharmd
program is very demanding. I don't see you are willing to continue a
student lifestyle for the years of getting a PhD degree then post doc. |
f*******e 发帖数: 689 | 14 Are you a pharmacist or a faculty now? If neither of them, I think you getta
make a choice-being a pharmacist or a faculty. Both of them are very tough
jobs when you are on early years of your career. For me, I spent a lot of
years in school being a student on science. However, as a pharmacist intern,
it was very challenging for me. I gotta learn some very basic things and
even started to learn correctly pronunciation with my ENGLISH tutor. My
knowledge has been reshaped for being a pharmacist. |
s********s 发帖数: 291 | 15 Many people has M.D. /Ph.D. They do both clinic and research. Both clinic
and research are tough and need to be well trained. so it is possible Pharm.
D or R.Ph plus Ph.D can work like this way. For example, you can do
dispensing and own a lab and do reserach. Research is very flexible. Maybe
it is not so easy to get funding like in clinic as a M.D. , but it is still
a nice try. That is my personal opionion. Weclome discuss. |
g******n 发帖数: 167 | 16 Hi, shouzhanbs, I really don't think it is necessary to discuss. Just do
want you can do. Once you get chances to work both as a faculty and a
pharmacist, you will get your own answer. Just keep going and the answer
will be there waiting for you. |
