It is an expensive technology and, in short term, hard to see any outcome
and profit, if there is any at all. It is relative new and hence not mature
or reproducible. It's not in good alignment with business needs.
Companies will invest in upcoming science and technology, but they care more
about $$$. Many companies would form a proteomics division for a few years
, then get rid of the whole thing for good. One example: Thermo Finnigan. | s*******n

Thermo Finnigan is no longer existed, they got rid of Finnigan in the name
long long ago. After merge with Fisher Scitific, they became a giant
instrument/reagent company called Thermo Fisher. They are instrument
company, so their proteomics department is just to develop some methods, not
really focus on any clinical/drug design.

I am pretty outdated, but not that outdated. Any homo sapien who frequents this board knows Thermo merged Fisher Scientific at the end of 2006. To make myself 100%
clear to you:
1. When the two proteomics groups still exited, that company was called
Thermo Finnigan. The two proteomics groups lasted a few years, and every
day during that period the company was known as Thermo Finnigan.
2. Finnigan no longer exists, but many people at their R&D weren't in favor
of the merge, and they still

However, even before the Thermo /Fisher merge, Thermo was not called Thermo
Finnigan. It was Thermo Scientific.
For very short time, Thermo Finnigan was the name of Thermo, but very soon they changed toThermoQuest, Thermo Electron etc., Thermo Finnigan became a division of Thermo, which is focus on mass spectrometery related business. And Mass spectrometry was not the most
profitable division in Thermo.
What I want to say is those proteomics group in Thermo, we

大分子分析现在很多department都需要吧，like DMPK, biologics, some biomarker
group. 有谁知道大分子分析在这些部门的就业情况吗〉？那些公司，哪些部门？
