of heat-related causes following last week’s heat wave.
Dorothy Hawkins, 69, of the South Chicago neighborhood, died of heart
disease, with heat stress as a secondary cause, in an accident, the medical
examiner’s office found this afternoon.
Officers were called to the 7400 block of South Yates Boulevard at 5:24 p.m.
Monday after a family member called police to say the woman who lived there
had not spoken with family since Thursday, said Police News Affairs Officer
Darryl Baety. Officers went to the home and found a woman dead in the home,
Baety said.
