我来赞一下explorer, i'm not a car person. usually buy a reliable one and
just drive till it breaks. had been driving a RX350, so that's the only
thing i can compare to. had driven some rentals like minivan, suburban and
stuff but only short period of time so don't really know much.
it's very quiet, plush and got adequate power. of course, not the sports car
number, but i buy this car to move kids, not in the rush to go somewhere.
after awhile both me and LD like to drive explorer than the Lexus. its just
smooth.
only suv that has inflatable seatbelt - the most important reason i bot it.
3rd row seat is not roomy, but adequate for kids/small adults. My LD is 5'8"
, she frequently sit back there because my daughter wants her to. It's
their favorite place when going a semi-long trip like a couple hours. It's
also easily configured-so you can put them away by pushing some buttons -
you can't do that on minivan. I use it to move construction materials
sometime - it fits in 450sqft of hardwood floor - to the surprise of
contractors.
despite the SYNC getting tons of negative review. i like it alot,
particularly after the update last year. the kinks has been wiped out mostly
. better than ANY other cars i have seen - many luxury cars/suvs are good at
the mechanical performance, but the electronics really sux. Explorer with
mySync can stream iphone music wirelessly, connect to multiple phones at the
same time. switching music library is the easiest. touchscreen control and
voice control all seems to function. Lexus RX350 also have voice control but
i was never able to use it properly mainly because it worked so poorly.
double screen for navigation is a big plus - you can leave the main screen
for entertainment/phone/temp etc., there is another small screen on the
front display shows you turn by turn as well as speed limit. i didn't
realize how useful it is before i actually use it.
adaptive cruising and automatic parallel parking is great for people not use
to drive long distance. LD became fond of driving and we drove couple times
over 1k mile one way with the whole family and kid supplies.
service and parts are all cheaper, compare to Lexus
=============
If you have 2 small kids and looking for a family car, i would highly
recommend it. The only gripe i had was the gas mileage. but with the new
ecoboost v6 for 2013, i think the mileage had improved. |
