I am currently a faculty member in Medical School. As you all know it is
extremely hard to obtain grant from NIH. I am seriously thinking if it is
possible for me to take board exam....to be a pathologist...
But my major concern is that I had my MD degree about 20 years ago and I had
never been practising medicine since I graduated from Medical School. Do I
still have a chance to pursue this path or is it a joke?
I appreciate all you comments and inputs on this matter. Thanks! |

your heart and ask your family.It is never easy to start from zero again.But
if you found you enjoy the whole process,you will not regret in the end.

Now I just turned 30, and I think it's time to do so. I think "too late"
sometimes is just an excuse and it is just that you couldn'd make up your
mind. |

发帖数: 111 | 6 我的经历也许d对您有一点参照系？。本人27来美读博士，当时就听过看过考版的，觉得大家好不靠谱啊。PHD多牛呀，可以做faculty。于是坚持在科研的道路上死磕。N年后明白自己错了这么久。于是狂奔考版，用了2年时间完成从准备考试到顺利match的工作。BTW，我医学院毕业后就留校做
基础的科研教学，出来又博士连带着后N年。所以除了上学那回儿见习加实习，后来再
也没有摸过临床。如今叽里咕噜地竟然还混进了非病理的program。所以一切皆有可能
。看你决心有多大，付出有多少。再BTW一下，我之所以2年前决心靠版是因为偶遇一师
兄，已经做了attending，看到我竟然还在执迷不悔地做科研，给我举了个例子：他认
识的一个在Harvard做到faculty的CMG，49岁了，因为没有funding，被雷了。决心靠版
，并转型成功。我师兄很给我面子了，没有直接说“你觉得你比此人做科研还强大吗？
”。 但是我扪心自问，于是幡然悔悟。痛哭流涕地把版考了。所以，兄弟，什么时候
都不晚。再透露一个消息，本院有位pathologist已经84岁了，还在做partime. 您和他
老人家比起来，恐怕还是少年吧。呵呵呵呵。。。

发帖数: 33 | 7 估计你是说的faculty 是 instructor ? 如果是绝对要考, 因为这个其实就是postdoc
，你以后还是很不稳定。如果是AP， 我觉得没必要了。到头来不要两头落空。没人能同时考高分，同时发nature. 文章发不了，拿不到grant,实验室关门，考试也考了个半吊子的分数。

了NIH grant，很牛。但是此人board考得一塌糊涂。program最后一狠心，还是给据了
。唉，research再牛，做resident 也用不上不是？ 所以脚不能放在大于一条的船上。

种分离。
