the midwest. Extensive hands-on experience in all core radiology disciplines
including body imaging, neuro/neurointerventional, musculoskeletal, women's
imaging, pediatric radiology, and nuclear medicine. High procedure volume.
Excellent fellowship-trained faculty with extensive clinical experience in
all areas of diagnostic radiology. Daily structured case-based conferences
and lectures. Preliminary year of post-graduate education required prior to

发帖数: 1334 | 3 Yes it requires a preliminary year. For this year's match, the radiology
year R1 will start on July 1, 2012.
This R1 position is available for people currently in PGY-1, and its start
date is July 1, 2011.

applying for a radiology program? I mean in general, not to this position. | e*****a
发帖数: 1334 | 5 Radiology training consists of a PGY-1 (preliminary medicine, preliminary
surgery, or transitional year) and four years of radiology (R1 – R4). Some
categorical Rads programs include a PGY-1 year. Many Rads programs however
only provide the R1 –R4 training, so one has to apply for both in the same
year. For example, in 2011 match, students apply for a PGY-1 position (will
start in July 2011) and a Rads position (will start in July 2012) at the
same time.
The same rule is applied to other advanced programs, such Anesthesiology,
Dermatology, and Neurology.
