With a private septic, you save the public sewage fee in your water bill,
but once a few years, you need to clean it (cost about a few hundred dollars
). A well maintained septic can last for 40-50 years.

），用septic tank还是很省钱的。计划2年清一次，搬进来之前清过一次，收费180一
个tank。不过要是坏了，听说修起来就很贵了，几千刀？

your drain field which can be very expensive (over $10k) to fix.

发帖数: 208 | 5 Just learned that the septic was flooded last year because of improper use
by tenants (the house was rented out) and got fixed. The seller said that it
works fine now, but is there anything we should look out for flooded septic?

septic?
when you buy a house with septic, the previous owner should provide a Title
V, showing that the current septic is in fully working condition. Make sure
this is part of the conditions in the P&S before signing.
You can also hire someone to look at your septic once you move in.
