from the relocation company regarding relocation expense reimbursment. It
said that "the expense cut-off date is set at Nov 30, 2010. If you were
authorized for home purcahse closing costs and the expenses are not
finalized by Nov 30, any income based on this benefit will not be reported
in 2010. The deduction points in Tax Year 2010 for income that has not been
reported and the subsequent reporting of that income the following tax year
may have an adverse impact on you".
I can close either at the end of November or Dec 8. One friend said I should
close the later the better. For tax purpose, which date is better? If I
close on Dec 8 and report the expense after that, what adverse impact will
be for the Tax Year 2011. Should I close at the end of Nov for tax purpose?

我建议在11月底close,那样prepaid interest charge的少,从12月份收到的bill就已
经开始还本付息了。如果是12月8日close,那么银行会先charge 8日到月底的interest
,然后从1月的账单开始还本付息。对于closing当月,会不会按天算应还的本金,还没
有仔细研究过。 |
