A typical Background Check checks only the following areas:
1. Criminal records;
2. Employment verifications (usually the last-10-year employment);
3. Diploma verifications (usually the highest degree).
NO ONE cares about how much you spent on grocery shopping......

其实担心的主要原因是买的有些东西稍微敏感，比如净水的一些仪器或者跟UV相关的一
些仪器，一般国内直接找美国的公司询价的话这些公司会直接推到他们中国的代理商那
里。

In most cases, a background check is conducted by a third-party company. The
third party will ask you to provide
1. You personal information (phone + address + SSN + DOB + ....);
2. Your education history (names of the schools, majors, graduation dates...
.), then they will contact the schools for verification purpose.
3. Your employment history (names of the companies, employment periods,
contact info,...), then they will contact the names you provided for
verification purpose.
4. Your references' info.
I received a couple of job offers in the last few years, and NONE of them
asked anything about my transcripts.
