荐人,who published XXX papers,had XX presentations and XX book chapters,
申请人还远远没达到top of his field呐。这样的话怎么处理?我们这些小鱼小虾哪能
比得过那帮大佬啊。
想了想似乎只能有这几个选择:
1.多请些比较年轻的推荐人(比如AP什么的),又怕这些人的话在IO眼里分量不够
2.在材料里尽量简单介绍推荐人,尽量不提他们多少paper和presentation(可是这些
都明晃晃摆在他们主页上,IO一google,咱不就露馅了)
3.避重就轻,多强调自己way above average就行了

numbers. This is because I don't have many publications or citations.
So my advice to you is to only talk about what is the most relevant for that
letter, i.e., how the reference can be considered a world-leader in the
field without talking about things that will make you look bad, how well
does the reference knows you, to what degree has your work influenced their
research, etc.
For senior references, I mostly stressed their # of years of experience, and
the service they have provided to the research community (for example,
their administrative roles, etc.).
