Sigma Xi has long been abused before CIS adjudicators, basically useless.
AAO cases have clearly mentioned this couple times.
don't know about AAAS, but guess not much difference for the normal membership
anyway, if you don't have any membership (not likely), it's better than
nothing, otherwise, save your money and forget it
