The problem is: these two departments have a lot of overlapping research
area and some of their faculties are adjunct between each other.
So if I apply for both of them, would this make them unhappy?
The background is: I have already applied for one of the program and they
have indicated initial interest in me. However, nothing is guaranteed until
the final offer stage (which is at least six months from now).
I have not applied for the other program yet but their deadline is tomorrow.
So I am struggling about it.
I wonder, if you are in the faculty search committee, would you be bothered
if you found out I also applied for another department in your school after
you told me you will be interested in me? | P****d

the two will coordinate in terms of their interviewees (if they don't, bad
sign).
In your particular case, it depends on how much they've indicated their
initial interest. I'll probably err on the side of sending the second. | a*****y

发帖数: 28562 | 4 The first program wrote back to me after three weeks of my application to
express their interest and said they will call me sometime next week. So I
guess I passed their first round? However there should still be second round
and third round so nothing is fixed yet.

Good luck. It is likely the phone will bring your interview.
It is not common to have "phone interview" for biology,
especially by good schools. They will interview ~ 6 candidates
on site anyway.
