下面一段USCIS对485 status回复貌似解释了485处理步骤：
background check clear之后administrative review然后assigned to
an officer for adjudication
administrative review看来不是每个case都有， 目的是“confirm the appropriate
placement
of the case in the processing queue ”

With respect to Mr. AAA’s permanent residency case, USCIS electronic
records indicate that an element of the background check process has been
initiated in this case; and it is not yet complete. The adjudication of
your constituent’s Form I-485 will continue to be held in abeyance at the
Nebraska Service Center (NSC) until after the necessary clearance is
received. After the aforementioned clearance is received, the Alien File (
A
-File) containing your constituent’s Form I-485 may be referred to an
administrative review. This review will confirm the appropriate placement
of Mr. AAA’s case in the processing queue from which it may be assigned to
an officer for adjudication at the NSC. Please note that we are unable to
grant requests for expedited processing in Form I-485 cases.

紧接着你会收到通知打指纹，有了你的指纹，移民局会结合各个database/fbi美国联网
数据开始更详细的做你的background check。
