这位90岁老人在2010年没枪保护自己被抢匪爆揍(被beaten the hell out of)。
18403 | 4 The 90yr old is almost the "greatest generation". But at least he went
through a world war, a few local wars, and more recessions than I could
shake a stick at. Life experience makes him a tough cookie.
The 60 yr old lady and the 70s old men, well they are still tough.
Our generation of Chinese "elites" were raised to be superprotected and not
so teamwork oriented, and very little patience with each other.
I'm watching the economy in China. There's a possibility the Chinese young
people will have their biggest taste of the recession maybe even depression.
How they behave and how the country as a whole would behave in economical
deprivation is going to be a real unknown. If history is any guide:
China will likely self-combust rather than militarily expand. Either mode
of reaction are not good. We need to learn to ride out this kind of
economical boom-bust cycles with patience and teamwork.
Japan's reaction is historically opposite: in the late 1920s, they had some
effects of "Great Depression", military attack of China/US was how the
Japanese "handled" the economical problems. Now they had 20 years of
stagnation, they are electing the right wing to again to "handle" it for
them, through war probably. The Japanese keep s avoiding real deep soul-
searching over their recent history, and they may end up getting China and
US to pay their tuition... again. | k****m
psychological resilience, teamwork,
