Qualifications:
The Analytical Chemistry Department of Merck Research Laboratories currently
has an opening for a contractor in the Molecular and Materials
Characterization group in Rahway, New Jersey. The incumbent will be involved
in the screening of crystalline APIs and solid-state characterization of
the forms resulting from screening. The main responsibility involved in this
opportunity will be sample preparations, routine sample analysis,
monitoring and ordering lab supplies and chemicals as needed. Applicants
must have effective organizational, multi-tasking, and oral / written
communications skills. The successful candidate must possess a BS/MS in
Chemistry with a minimum of 1-4 years of laboratory experience in
characterization of pharmaceutical solids. Experience in an API
characterization lab with hands-on expertise in x-ray diffraction, FTIR
spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and Raman spectrometry is
highly desirable.
