Questions:
1) was it ok to bid 7 ? since I have already anwsered 0-4 kc and p still
went to 6. shouldn't p have at least 1 kc for this sequence?
2) was 4nt from North too early ? 2nt and 3s to start cuebid ? cue bids
might not be enough to find the missing A (A or K for cuebid), but 4nt from
South will do.
(Needless to say, op | v*******e 发帖数: 3714 | 2 It does not make sense for North to asking for keycards. Also South should
answer four keycards with 5D. North gamble and bid 6S. End of story.
IMHO the bidding procedure should be something like
2C 2D (or 2NT with such a balanced good hand)
2S 5S
6S. | m****r 发帖数: 6639 | 3 what's wrong with him bidding 6s with your 4 keycards?
i don't like 4nt. spades might not be the best fit. i'd bid 3c, probably.

| p*********6 发帖数: 679 | 4 We play 1430 and 2d waiting - both agreed upon on the table. So 4c meant 1
or 4 keycards, obvious 4 here.

can you expect? :-)
4NT是不对,但7S也很糟糕啊,说说看你凭什么叫7? | v**********e 发帖数: 1295 | 6 4NT is not good, but it may be the best between strangers.
7S is absolutely a gamble without any reasons.
I may bid 6NT directly after 2S with a stranger, at least I can be the
declear.

between regular partners. With stranger, the first thing you should consider
is to avoid a catastrophy.

| p*********6 发帖数: 679 | 8 This is what I want to find out: whether 7s bid makes sense even among
regular partners if similar situation comes up. I felt that when I answered
4kc, which was max, p still went to 6, then I ought to go 7 (since I could
have less).

| b***y 发帖数: 2804 | 9 No, it doesn't make sense. You tell partner you had 4 kc, he bids 6, that's
the end of it, period. If your side has all kc, partner is supposed to bid
5NT just in case. If a grand slam is missed because partner jumps to 6
prematurely, you win the postmortem.
For this particular hand, even if partner has HA, don't you still need CK or
DK to make 7?

methods, you can think about going to 7 after your partner bid 6.

| b***y 发帖数: 2804 | 11 That might work, but in general it is a bad thing to do. I personally
encountered many times that opponents do things like this. More than half of
the time it didn't work, since they had to guess which aces partner had,
and they guessed wrong. Another problem is that, if partner cannot bid in
tempo, almost invariably they will get a director ruling against them. When
you are uncertain about something, don't do it, especially when the decision
is at 7-level. Grand slams should not be bid on specu

There are ways to show void in response to keycard asking. Other methods
include cuebidding, exclusion blackwood, etc....
