yeast to grow, but forgot the exact name

发帖数: 1786 | 4 I assume it is not S. cerevisiae, if it is Yarrowia, you can design PCR
primers for matA1, matA2 and matB1, matB2 and perform colony PCR. If it only
gives product for A or B, then it is haploid; if it gives product for both
A and B, it is diploid.
If it is S. cerevisiae, then you should not have called it non-conventional
yeast. Then you can plate lawns of tester strains and streak/replicate you
strain on them.If you strain inhibits growth of either tester strain, it is
haploid with the opposite mating type; if it does not inhibit either tester
strain, it is diploid.
