I remember that in the original post here, someone posted a link which led
to the lab homepage. At that time, the first author is Ph.D student or
candidate.
I checked the corresponding author again and surprisingly the first author
is now a post-doc fellow on their webpage.
This makes to think the mentor is protecting her student's degree.
