o******s 发帖数: 416 | 13 interference call was a good one.
infield fly rule call was a tough one, personally I think it was a really
bad judgement. The umpire can backup himself with the grey area of the rule,
but considering the overall situation at that moment and the intention of
infield fly rule, he should've just let the ball dropped without saying a
damn thing.

n*******e 发帖数: 2213 | 14 I watched the video a few times this morning. I actually think it is an
acceptable call. The problem is not in the call itself -- it is in the
rulebook. Once the infield fly call is called, the batter is out no matter
what happens next. This is a clear example why this rule needs to be
modified should an error happen after the call is made.
To me, it is an E6.

A**d 发帖数: 13310 | 15 The rulebook is gray, but it's not common sense to call this ball
"infield". It was a routine outfield popup--when SS had to leave
his position so far away, there was nothing "infield" about it.
The late timing of this bitch's call made it even more obvious that
it was intentional as MLB didn't want the defending champion
knocked out so early. An infield fly can't be called after the ball
flew so long.

n*******e 发帖数: 2213 | 16 The infield fly rule was created to protect the interest of the base runners
, not the defenders.
This is not the best call, but it is not as bad as it is portraited. What
happened next in the Turner field was more unacceptable imo.
Chipper said it best. The call did not sink the Braves. The errors did.

A**d 发帖数: 13310 | 18 Exactly. Many people pointed out there was no way Cards created 2outs in
this play,so the ruling was totally conflicting with the purpose of this
rule. This call wasn't as bad as Jeter's "homer" against O's, but it didn't
have anything correct in either details or context.
Ps: Chipper being shitting didn't make the opponent more deserving of the
win. Braves didn't play as ugly as Yanks in game 5 of 02 ALDS.

t*****l 发帖数: 241 | 20 Well said, but Braves still might have benefited from the call. Holliday
didn't pickup the ball quickly, possibly because he heard the call. He has a
strong arm, so he could have thrown out Uggla at 3rd base, which ends up
with men at 1st an 2nd base, 2 outs.
