student is not easy.

about is considered quite decent in my area. Although not so great as
ACM SIG, which is considered 五星级, the 三星级会议 has been the best
IEEE conference in my area. What do you think? |

the trust fund. You can check with the bank and get the account number and
routing #. If that's the case, no need to open a paypal account since it take

发帖数: 9 | 12 Transfer in US is free. The charge i meant earlier was the charge when we
transfer the total donation back to China to Shuangzhou, which is going to be
several tens of dollars-so the larger the transfer amount, the smaller
percentage the portion gets cut by the bank.
Also, this account doesn't have checks since it's a saving's account. But i
will see if i can find the routing number somewhere else.
And please tell me if paypal is needed and if that makes the donation easier
for some of you guys? |

highschool scholarship program to help recruiting good students to USTC,
I initiated the section for Wuhu No. 1 highschool (Anhui)(安徽芜湖一中),
since then it has not been put into a real action as the total donation
we have is only $226, and $300 is the amount needed for at least 1
scholarship. Part of the reason, I guess, is due to inefficient networking
among USTCer who were graduates from Wuhu No. 1 highschool. Therefore, |

passing its $1/2 M milestone.
Today in the spring of 2006, Class 978 is coming out
in force to show their spirit of Goodwill.
So far 20 students from Class 978 have pledged to donate
at least $40 per person per year -- though most of them
are still in school themselves. -- they have picked TWO
students in Class 2005 to support for the next 4 years.

日前，美国华盛顿州立大学物理系博士生周觉非(８５２校友)和导师波音大师讲席
教授库哲克、数学家沃特金斯设计出一种能为互联网与光通信“加速”的新型分子。该
成果将刊登在10月出版的《光学通讯杂志》上。
周觉非是论文的第一作者，他1985年从安徽省滁州中学考入中国科技大学物理系，

does not matter much. As Rossby mentioned, $1000 from a graduate
student is much meaningful that $1000 from Gates :)
In 2006, two persons from 94 grades donated $1200 for GW program.
And back in 1996, the HIGHEST donation received by USTCAF was
only $2500 (the total in that year was only a little over $10K).
Since USTC alumni are relatively young, those 77ers are only
in their late 40s today. The AVERAGE networth for USTCers has
