发帖数: 570 | 1 Regional University是指每年毕业的博士生少于20人的学校，但faculty仍然可以做研
究。我现在就有两个博士生，每年发1到2篇高质量的文章（我这个领域的top journal
），文章质量并不比R1学校（如RPI，UT Austin)faculty发的文章质量低。同时这里的
faculty都写proposal，我的colleague有拿NIH, NSF 和DoD funding的。
相对R1研究型大学来说，Regional University的好处：申tenure主要看teaching和
paper，不要求funding，相对压力低；faculty可以balance life和work，比如我回家
从来不怎么干活，看娃，周末都陪娃玩。
Regional university不足的地方：刚开始教书压力大，基本上每学期2门课，另外学生
对老师的期望高，同事的教学评分都高。但教了两年之后，只要努力，一般教学就变得
轻松，因为这里的学生质量都还不错。另外，这里的资源有限，所以，必须找校外的合
作合作伙伴。另外你的自己set up的lab，因为没有别人能/会帮你。
