从上次参加Winston Salem ATP 250的时候就说要写个关于做USTA裁判的帖子,但是乱
七八糟的事不断,就搁下了。昨天旧事重提,理理思路,现在和大家分享一下。
USTA的架构
USTA是独立于ATP和WTA的组织,属于ITF,我们平时在美国见到的比赛中,除了ITA(
NCAA)、ATP/WTA,基本其他比赛都归USTA管,不过虽然USOPEN是有ATP/WTA积分的,但
是也归USTA管。不同组织的规则稍有不同,比如每球之间的时间啦之类。
USTA下分很多个section,如Eastern,Southern,Mid-Atlantic,Southern California等
等,有的section管几个州,有的只管半个州。好了,没用的就不扯了。
裁判的分类
大家最熟悉的,肯定是主裁(Chair Umpire)和线审(Line Umpire)。但其实还有一些不
为圈外人知的Position
Chief Umpire(不知道中文,我称之为老板):一般每个tournament都会有一个,负责雇

As long as the umpire is consistent, you shouldn't complain.
I doubt umpire would be intentionally giving the home team good calls. The
minor league umpire's life is miserable, making a little over 1k every month
. You don't want to be sent back to the minor league once you have a chance
in the big league. |

ran out of position players. 3B umpire just ejected Ryan
Howard for tossing a bat toward the direction of 1B. So now
Roy Oswalt is playing against his old team as a LF.
Hilarious.
And I am speechless. This MLB umpiring is getting worse and
worse this year. First it was Joe West, then Jim Joyce, then
this Barry Scott. MLB has to establish some rule to punish
these umpires for not doing their job. |

stikes, especially the one to Holiday in the 2nd inning. This set the tune
and the cards batter had to swing on those "balls" later.

住球、脚或身体某部位接触类并且使用身体或手或球tag跑垒员。后来想一想我搞错了
,不用那么多的条件判跑垒员out。现将我现在的理解写在下面,如果不正确,请纠正。
1. baseman一脚(或身体某部位)接触垒、手伸长接队友的throw球并hold住球,这时
跑垒员接触垒。从timing上说,baseman比跑垒员更先接触垒因为他就没有离开垒,
baseman不需tag跑垒员,跑垒员就自动out。base Umpire可以直接说“He is out!”
2. baseman离开垒就是身体没有任何部位接触垒去接队友的throw球然后转身用手或球
tag跑垒员,注意这时双方都没有接触类,Base Umpire可以说“He's out!" 对吧?如
果跑垒员首先接触垒,即使后来baseman tag他,base umpire可以说“He is safe"或
“safe”对吧? |

but in real time, what the umpire saw was a fielder was under the ball and
should make an easy catch but he stepped away. The observation made the
umpire have the judgement that the fielders were playing a trick so he made
the call.
the umpire should have considered that the ball was in an area deep enough
into the left field so the chance that they were playing a trick should be
very small. |

Kozma was on his way to catch the ball but he suddenly stopped
for whatever a reason
the left field umpire saw Kozma suddenly stopped and thought he and
Holiday were playing a trick trying to get a double play so the umpire
immediately call the infield fly out.
It's a bad call but the umpire was indeed trying to do Braves a favor

My little son (10 yrs) used to play soccer (he still does), but he joined
little league this year under the influence of his big brother (12 yrs), who
has played baseball for 5th year and still going.
Today they played a playoff game for the season. They lost their previous
one and are facing elimination (double elimination format).

300~400? How many they miss in a game? One time, I watched a game from mlb.
com, he may miss about 10.
