Temple的Jie Wu老师提到了他们学校的Provost是个华裔。前几天看到新闻的时候联想
起来，
挺shock的。后来我本科同学跟我说是他导师，也讲了事情的来龙去脉。下面这段话是
我本科同学原文：
戴老师今天像往常一样准时参加了我们每周的组会并亲口和我们讲了解职原因。校长做
这个决定前通知谈话“海龙，前几天我给所有教职员工发了邮件谈我任期三年半取得的
成绩，90%都是你做的，你是一个优秀的Povost, 但现在我必须让你走”。 为什么？
这个校长年底就会被董事会决定是否给他下一个五年的任期，第一个任期最后一年，也
就是从2017 年1 月开始，如果有连任五年的话，需要有renew 的程序。面对戴校这个
著名科学家( 一直在科研一线，目前仍带几个博士生，每年发表十几篇学术论文), 几
年内把天普带到一类科研大学高度，真诚正直的人格魅力赢得了无数教授和学生爱戴，
这个校长感觉受到压力和不安全..... 他的个性简单粗鲁，行为草率不计后果，于是匆

网站上有进一步的更新了，那个校长早就知道这个赤字的问题了，至少在去年就
知道了，他最失算的是，这个细节包含在他去年对Board的报告中，所以他现在是
白纸黑字跑不了。
而且戴现在出来说了，校长一直没有告诉他这个事情（估计这个校长根本没有把这个事
情放在心上），一直到了今年三月份才告诉他有22M的赤字，然后他就突然被校长解雇
了。
这么看来，事情很明朗了。大概就是这样的：
戴招收优秀学生的能力超出了校长的预计，一年之前奖学金的数目就有赤字了(9M)，但
是校长没有对此做任何措施。估计觉得不是个大数目，或者以为只是昙花一现。另外，
大家不要讨论小留什么的了，因为针对本科生的绝大部分奖学金都只能给美国公民和绿
卡居民（只有极少的几个奖学金可以给国际学生）。小留基本上都是来贡献钱的。
然后今年发现戴招优秀学生的能力太强了，符合奖学金条件的优秀学生源源不断的进入
了Temple. 相关赤字已经暴涨到了22M，而且这个数目受到了board 的关注，于是校长
慌了，就想找戴当替罪羊。但是问题是他以前留下的几个细节都有书面证据（他去年对

Temple 曾给全奖学生的医疗保险不错（学生工会罢课罢教得来的结果）。（2007年左
右的皇历了）孩子可以跟随妈妈爸爸买，但似乎没有medical care 便宜。
如果能上比Temple 更好的CS就去个好的。或在Temple 拿个硕士，再往更好的学校上博
士。
即使你当初全心陪老婆，即使你做了羊水穿刺。。。人生都是难料的。
命！
孩子那么小就手术，用化疗，免疫疗法。。。太残酷了。我们自己的孩子在成长过程中
，若干岁以下，有的退烧药都是和大人用不一样的。有的药在12岁以前给孩子用是有危
险的。
你如果选择国内治疗，可以让美国学校给你保留学籍一年么？ |

搜索Temple Grandin这个人。。她也是autism.但后来成为大学教授，世界顶级畜牧专
家。去年还有一部拍她的电影就叫 Temple Grandin。

发帖数: 545 | 38 第二天一早，导游来酒店接我们。先去看了海神庙（好像叫Tanah Lot - Rocky Temple
),不错。然后又去Monkey Forest(Sangeh)看猴子，不过到了山上正好下雨，估计猴子
们都被冲走了，我们只好下山。
接着又去了Bedugul (Lake Temple)，雨停了，看了湖和寺庙，也不错。然后吃了午饭
，旁边有梯田看，回来时看了Royal Temple，傍晚赶到Jimbaram看日落吃烧烤海鲜。日
落景色一般，但海鲜更难吃，太难吃了，还花了我80+美元。
然后回去休息。

同胞们的援奥运集会顺便看看轮子的人权火炬传递有何创意。我们
到耶鲁的时候是下午三点，除了三三两两的纽黑文警察，整个校园
非常平静。我们正要去找大部队的时候，Elm St 上鼓乐喧天地来
了一班人马。本来懒懒散散的大盖帽突然神色慌张地把行人往障碍
物后赶。当远处隐隐约约的法轮功大旗越来越清晰，原来站在街角
举标语的三两个姑娘小伙子着急地商量要不要召集大部队。没等他
们商量定，原先聚集在舞台前的人群早已呼拉一下闻声而至。
Temple St 旁顿时成了红旗的海洋。人权圣火队伍的最前端是一排
举着火炬的白衣天使。（literarily, I am not talking about
nurses here.)后面是一个大横幅“奥运和人权迫害不能在中国共
存”。然后就是鼓乐队，法轮功旗，雪山狮子旗，和标语。人权圣
火队伍大约一百人，沉默无声，一拐过Temple St就迎来了“中国
加油！”的口号。红旗一直“护送”人权圣火到Temple St的另一
头，在一片胜利的欢呼声中撤回舞台前。 |

这个地点GPS不大好设定，上面这个地址不容易找到正确停车位置。简单的
设法是用交叉口设
W Temple Ave & University Dr, Pomona, CA 91768
Garmin的GPS还要再在Favorites的部份改成正确名字。停车场在这个交叉口
东北角，这样设自然会经过，在Univesity Dr右转停车，Pumkin Patch在Temple
Ave南面草地上，草地再往南过去那栋建筑是Cal Poly Pomona的FARM STORE AT
KELLOGG RANCH。

， 因为成绩一样， 但是少了很多攀比。
temple las tunus 以北的房子， 卖的价格和Arcadia 是基本没有区别了， 之所以看
起来价格低点， 是因为地。 temple 的房子， 地比较小。 超过8000 的不多。 5000
多， 6000 的是正常。 所以会看起来比Arcadia 便宜。 如果有1万以上的地， 价格卖
起来和Arcadia 没有区别。 |
