We registered for the climb at Longmire Information Center shortly after 10:
00am. The climbing ranger told us that there had been no teams reaching the
summit via Tahoma Glacier this season. In fact there were only three teams
that had registered for such a climb. One went on 5/17 and only reached

After only a few hours of sleep, I was awaken by the alarm at 5:00am. After
getting up, breaking the camp, melting snow for water, boiling hot water for
breakfast, eating and repacking, it wasn’t until 7:30am before we got
going again. We put on the crampons and roped up. I led.

Lessons learned:
1. Should have taken snowshoes on this trip. It would have saved us a lot of
time on day 2.
2. Always start early. 7:30am start time on day 2 is too late.
3. Leader should have all gears handy when travelling through technical

发帖数: 379 | 9 从星期一开始就在天天刷周末Rainier的天气，到星期五天气预报终于比较明朗了，周
六晚上11点之前有30%雷阵雨的可能，星期天的天气貌似不错。就为了这个30%，纠结了
一个晚上，还是没敢背bivy，扛着我的整个帐篷上的山。周六早上6点从Bellevue出发
，7点半就到了ranger station。正碰上前面两组人在登记，等了半个小时才把所有手
续办完。办公室里有一张Glacier basin营地的照片，一只大熊整个上半身都探进一个
帐篷里，只剩两条腿和大大的熊屁股露在外面，好好玩——当然，这张照片的主要目的
还是教育人民群众不要把食物放在帐篷里… 到Trailhead准备出发的时候，有人发现忘
了带头盔，只好再回ranger station借，ranger让他到Schurman营地后管那里的ranger
借。这样前后一折腾，出发的时候都九点了。
开始的3.3 miles是循河而上的trail，出发没多久左侧有一个空挡，可以看到冰川之上
Little Tahoma的全景，
Rainier的山顶也能看的到，不过是藏在树后的。天上几乎看不到什么云，好天气看来

行程是相对最轻松的第三天登顶，还号称relaxing pace，太符合俺这等懒人胃口了，
呵呵。星期五早上4点起床，7点两辆车准时到Longmire的餐馆门口，接到John的电话，
说他们那辆车有人忘记带鞋子了，回家去取，要迟到1个多小时，ft… 百无聊赖的等他
们到、吃饭、分东西、登记，11点过了才从停车场出发，真是起了个大早，赶了个晚晚
集…
今年雪非常多，paradise号称有2米多的积雪，从停车场出发就是在雪上了，下来的时
候刚好洗鞋子，我喜欢。路上听到一个中国老爹跟他儿子说，给你和专业登山队背影照
张像，哈哈，走DC虚荣心就是容易得到满足啊~ 在Pebble creek补充了水，往上在Muir
snowfield上听到了很多次山上冰崩和落石的轰鸣声，还看到了一次腾起的烟雾。
快5点的时候到的Muir，人很多。到Ranger那里领了装食物的小口袋，据说有某种动物
专门以偷营地食物为生，所以吃的要装口袋里远离帐篷。唉，你说我们都把东西藏好了

Wine中对话框默认的字体是Tahoma，在我们的LINUX上，Tahoma字体是无法正常显示中
文的。比如Wine configuration中的"确定""取消"等就变成了"＜＜""＞＞"的字样。
解决方法很简单：
在wine的regedit中，找到：
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
FontSubstitutes
方法1. 直接地将MS Shell Dlg这个键设为空，问题就解决了～
方法2. 将MS Shell Dlg设置为一种自己字库中已有的中文字体即可，如果已经将
windows中宋体取来使用了,字库中SimSun对应宋体（这是Windows的，LINUX下默认是没
有的），在这里设置为 SimSun即可。

font里不含中文. 首先你应该有 2k multilinguall user interface pack. 把
system locale 的default 该为中文. reboot. 看看software\micorsoft\windows
NT\currentversion\fontSubstitutes 下有没有MS Shell Dlg 2 = Tahoma, 我记不
清2k到底有没有Tahoma, 其实最好是MS Arial Unicode(从microsoft download).

DC不需要route finding省了很多精力，travese的路都给踩出来了，省了很多体力
DC最陡的那段guiding companies set up 好了fixed rope
这次天气晴好，很多地方都不用crampon，我穿的super gaiter的boot也太热了
大概有１０个左右的cravasse，早点出发，过snowbridge安全，走起来也轻松，而且也
有人照应
如果你是和我一样的天气去，少带衣服，多带水，大概每１小时吃一个energy bar补充
体力
一罐气刚刚好够２人化雪煮吃的，刚好完全用完
防晒，防晒，防晒！我已经每几个小时补了防晒霜,一有空就拿个防晒sticker在脸上乱
涂一通了，可是上山和下山肤色还是差太多了！
注：所有iphone照片都是我照的，所有DSLR照片都是我partner照的

发帖数: 61 | 21 新年去Lake Tahoe滑雪了，过了个白色新年，很开心， 说说大概费用和过程。
住：我和bf是心血来潮突然决定要去的，没有什么准备。 打算晚上新年前开到tahoe
附近随便找motel住好了。 结果顺路去看一朋友， 他们经常去说现在是旺季，不容易
找到地方住。 结果在他家打电话找motel,hotel都爆满, 而且很贵。 好在最后找到一
间 叫Tahoma的cabin区，一个cabin正好房客晚上10点走， 我们意外拿到好价钱$150。
虽然超出预算， 但很开心， 因为这是个超级舒适漂亮的小木屋。 2层，楼下客厅壁炉
厨房，楼上两小间，分开3张床。 可以看见白雪压顶的松林和湖面。 大家要是5，6个
人去，也能住下。早上有免费的早餐， 是有人现煮， 家庭式的哟。 男女主人都很键
谈。 还代理滑雪门票， 比到那里买便宜$8.
价格： 我们去的是Squaw Vally, 比其他的雪场贵， 因为是那天唯一提供训练课程的
雪场。bf单买门票，$64, 我买a set: $89=ticket+2 hours lesson+ rent gears.
装备： bf以前经常去， 有所有装备， 我只有滑 |

在社交网络上看朋友分享的旅游奇闻，刚读到Tahoma的小木屋，
俱乐部里就有人组织去Backpacking，遂盲从。

下了雪，踩在寸厚的积雪上，颇为惬意。十几位旅伴们多过不惑之年，走南闯北经历丰
富，闲谈中也学了不少知识。
因为最近决定开始练习负重，遂自告奋勇负担了~背水果~的重任，带了十四人份的桔子
和香蕉，在平均20多磅的情况下以45磅的背包冠绝群雄。JJ则以大量摄影器材35磅荣为
亚军。累成狗。
转过三五道弯，蓦然回首，庞大的雪山布满了视线。再几步，山脊上的小木屋映入眼帘
，三层楼房有暖气有电有厨房有厕所，除了没有Running Water，简直是豪宅。

1. day 1 from trail head to glacier basin, 大部分trail状况都不错, 少数地方需
要穿过冰川融化形成的小溪, 翻过乱石, 跨过被风吹倒的树干
2. day 1 到达glacier basin, 时间还早, 我们决定再往上走500尺, 在glacier 下面
的雪地上扎营
3&4. day 2, 早晨6点钟出发, 从glacier basin到camp schurman, inter glacier和背
后的summit被朝阳渲染成橙色
5&6. day 2 结绳队沿inter glacier向上, zd领第一个绳队, 我领第二个绳队
7. day 2, inter glacier上的冰缝
8. day 2, 到了inter glacier顶端, emmons glacier和little tahoma peak出现在视

刮得帐篷有些移动.我的四季帐用七个snow anchor还不放心,再用两个冰镐加两个
pickets固定四角,然后再挖雪在帐子周围砌出防风墙.一夜大风,不过帐篷很坚固,安然
无事. Ingraham Flat 是扎营的好地方,面对little Tahoma,风景绝佳.我们扎营的那几
天,除了guide service的几顶帐篷,就只有我们一组人.唯一不好的是总有snow fox来偷
东西吃.我有一大包snicker bar是我的主食,全给偷走了,Grant的一包吃的也给偷走了.
幸好有别的队友带吃的多才不至于挨饿. |

，能看到的这边是Frying Pan glacier,背面是whitman glacier. whitman crest的那

DC线上看上去一大块石头其实是两块，大的是cathedral gap，小的那个分叉是DC |

发帖数: 809 | 42 Mt. Ruth是MRNP里的一个“小”山头。说起来，也有将近8700ft，在华盛顿州的群山里
也不算太矮了，可惜为巨大的Emmons Glacier和相对很小的Inter Glacier所夹，身处
大、小两座Tahoma——华盛顿州第一和第三高的两座山峰——的阴影下，实在太没有突
出的机会了。是club的一个 scramble field trip，总共十个人，其中四个是今年
scramble的学生，我们除了爬山，中间还留了点时间给他们考试。一路开车过去，天上
都是厚厚的云层，快到 Rainier的时候才云开雾散，公园里的天气倒是极好，一点云也
没有，山顶看的很清楚。
早上九点半从White River CG的停车场出发，走的是Glacier Basin的trail。这条路也
是Emmons Route上Rainier的approach，一路上超过了几队climber，也看到了之前走过
的人留下的路线旗。缘溪行，忘路之远近，呵呵。队里有一个是学水利工程的，说是单
看这被雪山融水冲出的峡谷两侧遍布的横倒的树木，（他用的是material这个词），便

发帖数: 669 | 46 When I climbed them, only Kautz glacier and LibRidge were technical, Sunset
ridge and Tahoma glacier is semi-technical. Others were not.
Note that technical climb does not mean it's harder/riskier than non-
technical climb. Kautz is definitely easier and safer than Success cleaver,
which was the scariest of all. |

发帖数: 379 | 47 Chutla Peak在Raininer的南边，是Tatoosh range西端的一个山峰。星期六天难得的好
，雪崩风险预报4000ft以下是moderate，往上南面就是considerable了；Chutla最顶上
有一段还比较陡的向南的open slope，不过Tord觉得问题不大。其他人都没有带beacon
，我也只好把我的留在车里了。说好7点在longmire集合，纠结了两天，还是没勇气冰
天雪地的睡trailhead，星期六早上4点半爬起来carpool去的，几乎睡了一路，真困啊
。第一次碰到有人迟到了将近20分钟，Tord很好脾气的等；那个家伙get ready也特别
的慢，用了差不多半个小时，最后快8点才出发的，真是白起那么早了。从桥上过了
Tahoma creek之后，就是trailhead。大部分溪水都冻住了，上面盖着层薄薄的雪。太
阳正打在Rainier的山顶上，照的偌大的山体一道暗一道亮的。
沿着树林里的trail一路zig-zag的往上走，出发没多久就要穿snowshoe了；trail显然
是很久没有人走过的了，路上不时能碰到些横倒、未及清理的树木，路上的雪也... 阅读全帖 |

DC不需要route finding省了很多精力，travese的路都给踩出来了，省了很多体力
DC最陡的那段guiding companies set up 好了fixed rope
这次天气晴好，很多地方都不用crampon，我穿的super gaiter的boot也太热了
大概有１０个左右的cravasse，早点出发，过snowbridge安全，走起来也轻松，而且也
有人照应
如果你是和我一样的天气去，少带衣服，多带水，大概每１小时吃一个energy bar补充
体力
一罐气刚刚好够２人化雪煮吃的，刚好完全用完
防晒，防晒，防晒！我已经每几个小时补了防晒霜,一有空就拿个防晒sticker在脸上乱
涂一通了，可是上山和下山肤色还是差太多了！

话说为什么要爬Rainier，我现在已经忘掉了，但我去年把它列上了今年的to do list
，所以一定是有理由的，待我想起来再补充。之前和板上大牛stargazing交流了下，大

俱乐部里就有人组织去Backpacking，遂盲从。

小屋坐落在林间的山脊上，需要沿废弃的伐木工山道徒步五公里。一路无大风景，却新
下了雪，踩在寸厚的积雪上，颇为惬意。十几位旅伴们多过不惑之年，走南闯北经历丰
富，闲谈中也学了不少知识。
因为最近决定开始练习负重，遂自告奋勇负担了~背水果~的重任，带了十四人份的桔子
和香蕉，在平均20多磅的情况下以45磅的背包冠绝群雄。JJ则以大量摄影器材35磅荣为
亚军。累成狗。
转过三五道弯，蓦然回首，庞大的雪山布满了视线。再几步，山脊上的小木屋映入眼帘
，三层楼房有暖气有电有厨房有厕所，除了没有Running Water，简直是豪宅。
晚饭时发现诸位一路背的全都是新鲜Grocery 。伴着窗外的雪山，期待大餐的犒劳。
