如果你说的onshore booming是页岩气的话， 那可以说这波已经过去了。 看看Shell在
eagle ford亏的。
onshore downstream， petrochemical应该还会继续增长。
offshore，长期仍将看好，其实gulf of mexico的permit只有在2010、2011年停滞，
2012、2013 呈报复性增长， 各个油公司都大量hold GOM的开采权，不过不急着上项目
罢了。现在他们subsea在西非增长比北美快。
Technip 近几年在engineering company一枝独秀， 很大程度上也是依靠了在subsea的
优势。看看其它几家老牌engineering firm的股价有多惨淡，就可知端倪。 |

Tieback会议上一看，转眼间跑到一家小公司去了。
Subsea是个很好的方向，但你要知道自己如何Fit In才行。Shale还红火吗，哈哈。
还有啊，如果你在油服公司能够爬上去的话，是没有必要去石油公司的。 |

sebsea（T最近几年也买了不少onshore engineering的公司）。offshore booming从那
个事故后有点放缓，但是onshore的，从upstream 到 downstream才刚开始。 |

……？这玩意运输比开采贵的多呀,很多都是 midstream or downstream driven而不是
upstream driven。 上回有个Gas Midstream Operator来勾搭我，貌似薪水比现在还高
一点，我却没有回别人的媚眼，坚持赖在subsea & deepwater这个方向。 |

看见有人说湾区收入高就笑了，给你们科普一下，猴子屯，13-15w年薪非常普通，20w
以上的一大把，加上公司100% match 6-12% 401k， 公司服务到退休有一次性上百万的
pension，还有一周工作四天一周工作五天，每年5周vacation，加州风景再美，这些能
比吗？

plans to shut down 30 more by the end of 2015.

现在LNG的确火，油公司都在搞LNG, Transmission Pipeline还有些项目， flowline和
subsea没有新油田投入不行， 听说几个厉害的的Offshore公司Genesis, J P Kenny,
Intecsea， SBM都有裁人。这些公司工资太高了，公司养不起这些人。Subsea7主要做
安装，所以受到的冲击比这些设计公司晚一点。Offshore engineers做好准备迎接大规
模lay off的寒潮吧。 |

到PR了。不喜欢现在的工作，希望向oil&gas上游、offshore方向发展，一直以来也投
了不少公司了，可是连个面试机会都没有过。
投过的公司：
schlumberger,halliburton,FMC,cameron, magnum subsea, bpp-tech, managed
pressure operations, INTECSEA, GE oil&gas(vetco gray), swiber, keppel,
globalone
真是郁闷啊，local同学没有honors都照样进船厂，我这怎么连个面试机会都没有呢，
是没卡的原因么？前两天投INTECSEA的subsea pipeline时候真的报了很大期望，因为
觉得自己力学水平还可以，想在工作中能用用有限元。
觉得这里比华新狮城心雨之类的靠谱，各位高人给支支招吧~ |

quality manager. The manager needs the skills to help this client get his
plant and processes ISO certified.
The company manufactures some specialty steel products used in high pressure
/high temperature/corrosive subsea and petrochemical environments, and
revenues are projected to grow 5X over the next 24-30 months.
A degree is not required as long as there is a decade or two of good
experience in his background.

drilling engineer, completions engineer, subsea engineer. 要爬到着个地步是牺
牲了自己很多东西.. 好比从field engineer/service company 开始干, 如果有家庭有
小孩一般很难兼顾. 如果在rig/oversea, 家人有事了, 自己大部分时间都不能第一时
间到. 我在这产业的同事/朋友大多离婚/2-3+婚. Maybe it is just me, 但是我不会
想要我小孩走pe. |

At same experience level, salary ranking in oil/oil service/E&C, petroleum
engineer>chemical engineer>=mechanical engineer>EE>CS. This is the
impression I got. With same background, salaries are similar among these
three types of companies. Also, subsea>offshore>onshore upstream>=down

Go to Oracle and get green card first.
it is waste of time if an employer does not provide green card.
Most of those offshore/subsea companies only provide EB3 and it is a waste
of time too. |

career? It is very difficult to launch a career without experience. A degree
is helpful, but won't work if you have zero experience. For offshore
engineering, it is not only FEA, but very broad including pipeline, flow
assurance, field development, riser, subsea, topside, survey, floating,
integrity management, etc. If you can do any of these, your career will be
