I often chatted with American guys even they hate my broken English. But I did
not feel progress. Moreover, I also find it difficult to improve the amount of
English words cause only very common words are touched in Spoken English.
It is shame that I even don't know how to respond other's striking up a
conversation.
In addition, American guys often like to use slangs which are so difficult to
be understood.

newscasters do it, they tend to have the most "neutral" intonations since
people from different regions will have different accents. You want to
listen to them, and understand WHY they are stressing certain words over
others, and try to imitate (in spirit, not in form).
I would not put too much emphasis on "slang" pronunciations - that will come
easily and naturally once you have developed a proper speaking style. But

Some sticklers say that "trips" is only right when you're playing a
community card game (like Texas Hold'em), and you make three of a kind by
matching one card that you have in the hole with two on the board. |
