to tell them apart. Each has an industrial base in the north and a

重整，最终还是要宣布申请破产保护。
我和底特律市有点渊源。九十年代，我跑到美国去念大学，落脚地就是距离底特律半小
时车程外的密芝根大学。抵埗时，见到的美国，超现实地精致，还以为在美国，富庶是
理所当然。过了几个月，学期完毕，终于有机会到底特律走一趟。哗！不得了。天堂和
地狱，原来不过是半小时路程。底特律市中心，到处都是荒废的建筑物，道路日久失修
，街上见不到在营业的店铺，感觉像死城一样。不过，当年我见到的底特律，已经是在
小阳春当中。话说，自从美国汽车工业失去了霸主地位，底特律这个车城的地运，也一
日比一日差。不过，九十年代有段日子，油价低，加上各种市场及非市场的因素，世界
各地的车主，忽然喜爱那些大马力高耗油量的多用途车；本来奄奄一息的传统三大美国
车厂，也借机来个大翻身。
