I think declarer likely 7+ trumps, singleton C (otherwise, his C play is
very risky: C A and C ruff, W exits with D to force N to ruff, no more entry
). if 1741, you play D A to force ruff, declarer can throw 1 D on C, but
might still have 2 D losers.

Yes, but only after you told me so :) Not only for 6142 or 6133, but 100%
for west with any 61??
After two rounds of trumps, cash two diamonds (west has 6- D, so east can't
ruff). If west shows out, he will be squeezed in S and C. So let's say west
follows 2D. Then he has 4- C, so it is safe to cash a club. If west shows
out, we can ruff 4th C. Otherwise it is safe to cash last D. If west has 3+
D, he has 3- clubs, so it is safe to cash 3 clubs, and ruff last club at
dummy if needed.

The trick is: after you ruff the open lead DA and pull 4 rounds of trump, you
only have 1 trump in hand, which is your only entry. You must be careful with
the possible block in C, otherwise you could go down. Therefore, it is
IMPORTANT to throw dummy's D in your 4th trump. If not, when your opp wins the
3rd C with CQ and then return a D, you can only ruff and CT is still in dummy,
Your C9 will be "a bird in forrest", not in hand.

Spade openiing lead is ok since you will keep Dia A and
club K as entry to ruff two dias. (duck the first spade,
win whateven return, you can ruff the third spade immediately)
The problem is club openning lead.

Hehe, really simple in IMPs. I can claim on trick one: ruff,
use 2 trump entries to ruff 2 more D and lead C to 7. Or
cover if East plays 9 or 10.
I'll probably do the same in MP as bidding and making this
slam will be worth some matchpoints. I'll risk everything by
finessing CJ in board-a-match. The percentage of overtrick
vs undertrick is roughly 34% vs 15% , which is distinctively
better.

you may reverse dummy and ruff some clubs even when opps tap you.
you may only lose 1S, 1H, 1C and get
3D, 3H, 2 ruffs and 2 spades against some soft defense.
The hand is quite suit oriented because the value in majors are all slow.
even if pd has a club stopper, opps may take 5 tricks before you develop

At table, I wonder what the spade 9 mean. I could see pd had the Q of spade,

at trick two, maybe pd has 4 trumps??
Actually, if that is the case, declarer may well get home with cross-ruff.

A D lead would break up the endplay in D and. When East gets in 1st time, he
can simply play DJ to knockout the DA. When get in second time, E can cash
trump (so south cannot ruff C) and cash D, and give E a D ruff if the D8's in
south's hand. NS can get no more than 3S, 2C, and 2D.

1. Well we've seen different results on the same board, haven't we? :-) It
seemed that the open room did not find the D ruff so declarer only lost 2D 1S.
There's no play record for the closed room but I assume they found the D ruff
somehow which would beat the contract 1 trick.

However, there are people who has ideas and it probably won't win much respect

If H 3-3 and D 2-4, Cozofu's line will fail.
You will using up the D entries after ruffing 3 clubs, so you need to play HA

ruff W's fifth club for a trump promotion. If play SA first then small, in the
case of H 3-3 and D 2-4, opp can gain 2 trumps, 1 heart and 1 club.

this is the reason why i never open 2s/h with 5 card suit and another good 4
card suit. as for play, after op cashed two rounds c, they will continue c,
ruff with sa at dummy, cashing hakq, hoping the op who 2 trumps will not ruff,
then d back to hand, play 4 round trump, and play d.
The key here should be alert to cash h honor so that you can back to hand

SQ is marked on your right. Next to cash heart honor(s) to see if

since east didn't lead C, you should probably play him to hold Qx, Tx or 9x
.
So you ruff D, play S to SA, play low C, with Qx, east may often win CQ
because he doesn't know your plan. So if east plays low, you just play C8.
Later, you can ruff D, cash HJ and play CJ to let it run.
This line works when east holds stiff Q, xx or Qxx and jumps Q as well.

You have to hope RHO to hold 3-2-4-4.
If RHO holds 3-2-4-4 shape, you can play the 3rd C, ruff it, take S finesse
and claim later.
If RHO holds 4-2-4-3 shape. You also need to ruff the 3rd C with low. Then

No one said finessing S10 is surely wrong. But when west holds DA, it only
has 40% chance of success comparing with 70% if you play to SK. Given the
possibility of club ruff, that 70% chance has to be reduced, but not to the
extent of outweighing the benefit. You are right, 4-1 break is 28%, so the
chance of ruff is about 14%, not 8%.

No need. If dummy has S9, then you just draw 3 rounds of trumps ending in
dummy, play CK and ruff another C, then play a trump to S9, that card will
squeeze East.
Of course you need to ruff C (and earlier H) with bigger trumps in order to
leave entry to S9, so you do need to plan ahead.

If partner has C8, you can be a hero by underleading the clubs then get a
spade ruff. But you will look really stupid if dummy has stiff C8,
especially if partner has a natural trick in spades or hearts.
Since the suits don't split well for the opponents, there is a reasonable
hope that they may not come to 12 tricks anyway. You may even get a diamond
trick :-)
I will lead C9. In case partner is void in clubs, he will figure out that I
