第一年的budget是单位的grants officer给填的。
现在突然发现他填了$19K的fringe benefit,
但我们家的health insurance (family plan)最近改成了由我LD那边出(LD的benefit更好),不打算变了,
结果我们这里的manager说这种情况下单位还是会从我的grant里面拿掉$19K,而不能给我作其他用处 (e.g. research cost).
请问是这样的吗? |

and some other benefits. Yes, the institution just takes a fixed-ratio
portion out of grants. The part for student support also includes fringe benefits, usually with a lower ratio.

的学校和系都适用。前面有朋友提到的抽10-20%作为summer pay,至少对于我目前拿过
的grants不适用。
* For an NSF grant, you can get at most 2-month salary in any one year. In
fact, no matter how many active NSF grants you have, you can get at most 2-
month salary in total per year.
* Other federal and state agencies, I don't know. I suppose the salary from
these sources is not limited by the 2-month NSF policy.

新的学校的budget里要charge overhead。
旧的学校要rebudget, 一般对subcontract超过25K的部分就不charge overhead了。 |

U don't have a budget for equipment. Any charged on equip category will
trigger attention at sponsored program. They won't allow u to do that.
Except NSF pm allowed u to do a rebudget. |

是不够圆滑而已。个人认为既然有65,35的协议,就要遵守,哪怕是个不公平合理的协
议。一般学校只会建一个PI account,所有钱你来管理。理论上你只要发copi工资,学
生support一点不分给copi是可以的,不需要rebudget。但是这样非常非常不好,名声
就臭了。虽然听说过有同胞这么做,但不管什么原因,为了这么点利益,坏了名声,就
得不偿失了。 |

K grant 的钱说起来是只拿来付工资,但是如果之前已经由学校支付hard money 工资
了,就可以申请对拿到的K grant 做 rebudget. 这样就可以转为支持research. 比R03
可是多不少呢。 |

academic year和summer. 这样问题就来了,对于以后的nsf proposal,看起来是不能给
PI budget任何工资的。 那不给PI任何effort的proposal也可以吗? 看起来有点怪啊
,作为pi没有任何person-month effort. 如果要在新的proposal给pi 工资,要
rebudget已有的projects了? 请各位大侠指教! |
