的就业信息来看，凡是到工业界的，全部工作在IT各个领域 top 5公司里的，就没有没
听说过的；凡是到学术界的，已经都成了正教授也有当chair和provost的了。
就没有一个是白给的。

学校的family housing区域。居住的是教职工（教授、博士后）和学生（主要是研究生
）。
是一个两人间。长话短说。搬进来一个黑人室友。有一些缺点，比如很闹（有的时候会
不由自主的唱歌），喜欢看电视（暑假他说是他的downtime，他每天能看10个小时电视
，而且声音开的很大），身上有黑人特殊的体味（发现亚洲人、白人、黑人的体味都不
一样，他身上那种就是夏天路上有的时候突然能闻到的臭啤酒的味道，有的黑人流浪汉
身上也是这个味道）。当然了，还有一些其他的“缺点”，和生活习惯的不同，但住
shared apartment谁都有心理准备，不可能有完美的室友。我接下来的concern也跟他
的这些特点并不相关。
了解他的背景，母亲是退役军人，从来没有提到他的父亲，可能单亲家庭？来学校是教
育心理学的博士，之前是在一个野鸡大学（三流宗教学校）本科，宾大的社会工作硕士。
大家相处了大概快两周了吧。这几天我非常沉迷看YouTube一个叫Crime Watch Daily的

微信转来的！我本人认识戴教授，得知消息非常气愤，戴教授是华人的骄傲，希望大家
可以支持去链接签名。如果有别的想法意见，也希望可以提供。内情是戴教授是下一任
校长的强力人选，四年的政绩有目共睹，功高过主，在任已经快4年的校长为了连任就
在任期满半年前强行解除他的provost的职位，还扣了个帽子说戴老师发的奖学金超了
预算。这样的过错完全不至于被解职，华人能做到这种成就很不容易，我们要团结起来
维护我们的尊严和权利，支持我们的同胞，不然别人都觉得华人好欺负，被不公对待也

精不用考虑这个问题。办绿卡的事确实是很操蛋，我自己办的很早，读完ph.d.就搞定
了，所以很感慨一些身边的中国朋友为这张破卡费的周折。我在R1学校教书，你想象不
到很多MIT，Harvard, Caltech名校毕业的中国同事为了办个绿卡还得低声下气地讨好

handbook in your university (usually in your university website) where you
should find the information. Of course, your college dean (as CEO of the
college) always has the right to make a positive recommendation any time to
the provost who makes a final decision. For example, if you are a 'Niuren'
and has an offer somewhere, but your current university want to keep you.
But it is very rare, as far as I know. |

tenure要求低。但是劳工在那儿找不到工作，于是找到现在的学校，方便劳工找工作。
当初面试问他们是不是考虑到我已经工作三年，可以把tenure的时间缩短一下，他们说
：可以，你不需要写在contract里面，反正到时候你可以提前申请就是了，很多人都提
前申请的。于是我欣然同意。
谁知道来了以后，orientation的时候vice provost突然说，由于以前提前申请tenure
的人太多，他们觉得tenure的标准设得太低，所以他们决定提高标准，并且不准提前申
请，除非你非常的优秀(exceptional).那我就问他如果以前已经工作几年的人怎么办？
他回答说取决于你当初的合同，合同里说几年就几年。我很后悔当初没有在合同里设定
好。
后来才知道，另外一位类似的同事想在CONTRACT里面写三年，三年之后申请TENURE，结
果学校不给她写。
回去问dean和department CHAIR，他们还都不知道有这么回事。所以现在一头雾水，不
知道怎么办，DEAN说会找我们谈话，解释清楚，叫我们放心，结果到现在还 |
