Recently I recommended one of my Ph.D. studens A for an internship, then
another student B feels he should be the one to be recommended for the
internship. The reality is that A is the ideal candidate for the internship
position, and the chance for B to be recruited for the position is almost
zero.
As always, I tried to explain to B why A is a better candidate and why B is
not competitive for the position. But B still claims that he is better than

后很难搞funding比如
antenna.....
但是去新兴方向呢~~~又怕火不了几年

美国80名左右烂校ph.d第五年（本科直博），即将毕业。 专业phyiscs.
研究情况：
做一些molecular docking,protein structure prediction 方法学方面的研究。编程
方面对Python,
C/C++, Fortran ,R， bash script都会一些，
但离专业码工很远. 目前已发表的一作文章三片，酱油文章若干。马上又有一片一
作准备submit。但由于专业限制，已发表的文章影响因子都是4分左右。对科研还算有
兴趣，博士期间工作相对比较独立
, 老板只给大方向, 不怎么管，具体的idea基本是自己摸索。
本人深知美国学术圈的艰难，待在学术圈怕沦为千老，离开又不知道去哪儿，也有些不
甘心，所以最近很迷
茫。 如果去做postdoc, 也想换一下方向。

我是传统化工出身，本科的时候搞的是水煤浆气化炉，研究生搞的是氨基酸的手性拆分，
来美后改方向做了生化工程，做的是生物反应器、基因重组蛋白质的表达和纯化。
我的找工时间比较漫长，从开始准备，到现在定下来，长达一年。
一直计划○六年八月份毕业，根据普遍的经验，我提前半年开始准备，
第一份简历草就于去年二月十七日，简单修改后，便上传到了几个主要的找工网站：
Monster、CareerBuilder和Hotjobs。
我心仪的公司是各大制药公司，根据allaboutstat收录的找工作/学校申请宝典
http://www.geocities.com/allaboutstat/，我在这些公司的网站上分别建立了自己
的账户，搜寻相关的职位，并开始了申请。事实证明，对我这样的没有工作经历、没有
人际网络的Fresh Ph.D而言，想直接进这些大的制药公司，比登天还难。我耗费了大量
的时间和精力，在各公司均直接申请了不少职位，结果呢，除了Pfizer的两次没有结果
的Phone screening，没有什么收获，投入产出比极低。

打扰了各位。我现在在美国中部一物理排名20位左右的大学读书，现在过了qualify,拿
到MS。研究方向为液晶物理，预感将来就业前景不怎么样，将来在美国就业恐怕困难重
重，两个师兄都在本校做postdoc达３年多了。我年龄也不小了，２７岁了，美国导师
估计我还要３年才能博士毕业。因为出国之前，在中国一个９８５大学的一个EE项目里
，搞电磁，现在回去，中国老板比较nice，还可以给我硕士学位。所以我在犹豫要不要
现在quit掉美国的博士项目，然后拿了中美两个硕士学位回国找份工作，开始有点积累
。各位都是高人，希望能给点意见，不才在这里先感谢各位了。 |

Top 20+学校理论物理PH.D可惜学校是典型文科学校，理工方面的校友很少。
本人careercup150过了一遍，Leetcode搞了一小部分，data structure/algorithm 基
本的STL里面包含的那些都比较熟。能白板写code。
面过Eze Castle，onsite 面了5个人加考试1，当时觉得面的不错可能有offer,但可能
直接面的是mid-level,最后惨烈的挂了。
Bloomberg：上周5面的，感觉被走了个过场，就面了一轮onsite,没见到manager，挂了。
简历每天自己平均投2-3份。现在总共有4个电话面试包括上面两个公司和一个小hedge
fund(没搞到onsite),另外还有一个当地公司，下周onsite，但钱不多。
这种情形师兄师姐看看怎么办，面试实在太少了。求帮忙。 |
