NEW YORK, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc. said on Tuesday its head of
pharmaceutical operations, Karen Katen, who failed in a contest last month
to become chief executive of the world's largest drugmaker, would leave in
the coming months.
Katen had been among three internal candidates to replace former CEO Hank
McKinnell. But she and another vice chairman, David Shedlarz, were passed
over for the post when the board chose Jeff Kindler, a third vice chairman
and general counsel. |

Merck is actually hiring a lot of peopel. I think basic sciences such as
chemistry and biology will turn around in a few years, because fewer and
fewer people are willing to enter these areas. The pay is simply not worth
the efforts. You spend 2-3 years getting a MS, and end up getting paid just
a bit more than a UPS driver or a primary school teacher.

review from regulators in the United States and Europe.

饭，最后要甜点的时候，两人各自又要了一份正餐，让waiter打包，走的时候带走。看
来有些美国人也是爱占小便宜，cheap得很哪。 |

，在interview结束的最后一个晚上，在Marriot为自己要了一份很好的晚餐，同时要了
一瓶好酒带回了家。当然这些是Pfizer买单。

再说个搞笑的事情。中午的时候几个scientist带我去他们的职工食堂吃饭，我买了一
个好咀嚼的Vegetable wrap,结果等大家坐定，开始吃的时候发现里面很多生洋葱条，
这时候我不好意思再折回去买别的，也不好意思不吃，于是囫囵吞枣咽下去了。想着下
午还要和好几个人谈话，这满嘴的洋葱味怎么办啊？！ 吃完饭后去了他们的厕所，忽
然发现他们在厕所放了大桶的Listerin 免费用（当时这东西是Pfizer的产品）,大喜过
望，赶紧倒在嘴里狂涮，真所谓过犹不及，因为用listerin太多次，我最后发现我的舌
头发直，嘴巴发麻，没感觉了，本来口语就不利落，这下更惨了，当时那心里真是：拔
凉把凉的。 |

marriott旅店，条件很不错，早餐很丰盛，可惜面试那天特紧张，啥也没吃。第二天赶
飞机，也没吃啥。Pfizer PGRD 真实漂亮的难以置信。面试时就是瞎聊, 很多人对我的
presentation问了很多问题, 还有的人（别的组的）一直在问我有什么问题，一点问题
没问我。没有什么behavior questions. 最后斗胆问了一句什么时候知道结果，被吓了
一跳。一个位置，138个人申请，25个人电话面试，5个人onsite。你说这不是烧钱嘛。
还有两个没面试呢。至少得一个月后知道消息。据说，从来都是人事部门通知的。晚上
和两个可能的同事去了groton 旁边的小城吃的饭。真是漂亮的海边。现在在家等消息
。祝我好运把。
经验是presentation很重要。因为公司里的人都是从学校出来的，对研究还是很感兴趣的。 |
